Lonny Allen has been named Athletic Director at Tiffin University. Allen had been serving as Interim Athletic Director since August after the departure of Ian Day. 

"Lonny Allen is the right person to lead our athletic program as we join the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, which is considered by many to be the strongest Division II conference in the NCAA. For many years, he has been an excellent baseball coach and Associate Athletic Director at Tiffin University. He has served as the Interim Athletic Director since August, and has done an especially effective job in that capacity. I appreciate Lonny's willingness to assume this important responsibility," said President Paul Marion.

"I look forward to the opportunity to contribute as Athletic Director,” Allen, who enters his 17th year with the Athletic Department, said. “This is an exciting time for the department with the move to the GLIAC, and I welcome the opportunity to take the lead and help us make the move successfully. We have an experienced, capable support staff in the department, and I anticipate continuing a close working relationship with them as we strive to make TU one of the top Division II programs in the region.” 

Allen is a 1992 graduate of Tiffin University with a degree in Sports Management. He has a Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Bowling Green State University . He has served as Assistant and now Associate Athletic Director for 10 years. He instructs in Facilities Management and Statistics.  

Allen has coached the Baseball program for 16 seasons, compiling the career record for most victories with 346 wins. In 2003 the squad set a new single season record with 30 victories, shattering 18 individual and team records along the way.

Originally from Kermit, TX, Allen played baseball at Hill Junior College in Texas before finishing his career at TU. He, his wife Julie, and daughters Macy, Brooke, and Zoey live in Tiffin.
