On September 27,2009 an Equestrian poker run was held at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve of the Seneca County Park District. The Tiffin University Equestrian team hosted the festivities which also celebrated the grand opening of a new parking lot dedicated for horse trailers.

Over 32 horses participated in the first annual Equestrian poker run.  A trail was devised for walkers who also wanted to participate.  Over $600 was raised, net proceeds will be split between The Seneca County Park District and the TU Equestrian team. 10 Prizes were distributed that were donated by Full Spectrum Tack Shop in Findlay, Ohio and Schneider’s Saddlery in Cleveland, Ohio.

Beside a new parking lot for horse trailers, the nature preserve has over seven miles of designated horse trails for visitors to use.  The trails cover a variety of terrain, including wooded trails, grass lands and the perimeter of the park’s agricultural fields.   The 256 acre preserve is open to visitors during daylight hours.  Restroom facilities and picnic tables are also available.
