Dragons receive votes in AFCA Preseason poll
Tiffin University's football team received votes in the AFCA Division II coaches poll. A total of five GLIAC schools were represented in the poll, with Grand Valley State earning a ranking of second behind national champion Valdosta State. Ashland came in 15th, while Saginaw Valley State, Northwood, and Hillsdale joined the Dragons in receiving votes. Last year the Dragons were ranked as high as 20th in the nation before finishing at 30th. Tiffin has been routinely ranked in the top 25 over the last two seasons, reaching as high as 12th in 2006.Dragons picked 12th in GLIAC Preseason Coaches Poll (more)
Burt named Preseason All-American
Tiffin's Parris Burt has been named a Consensus Draft Services Division II Preseason All-American. Burt, who landed a Second Team selection, was one of 9 players from Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools to earn the distinction. Tiffin competes in the GLIAC this fall, opening with Ferris State at home on Aug. 30. Burt was Great Lakes Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year last season, the Dragons final year in the GLFC. He posted a team best 137 tackles with 8 tackles for loss and 2 sacks along with 3 forced fumbles. TU won the GLFC title last year with a 9-2 record.
Walkosky named Head Football Coach at Tiffin University
David Walkosky has been named Head

"I welcome the opportunity to guide the football program,” Walkosky, who most recently served as Assistant Coach at Washington State University, said. “It was important to me to coach somewhere we had an opportunity to win. It was also important to me who I would be coaching for and who I would be coaching with. I was impressed with Tiffin’s facilities, and I was also familiar with the area.” (more)
Offense holds on for 38-35 win over Defense in annual spring game
Tiffin's offensive squad jumped out to a 26-8 1st quarter advantage, then held on as the defense turned it up over the final three quarters before winning 38-35. Trey Williams hauled in a couple 70 yard touchdown receptions to give the Offense the early lead, with the Offense leading 27-14 at the half. But TU's defense came back strong in the fourth quarter. Trailing 36-22 at the start of the period, the Defense climbed to within 36-35 as time was winding down. A fourth down defensive penalty gave the Offense a critical first down to seal the victory.Steelers' Washington signs one-year deal
Pittsburgh Steelers and former Tiffin University wide receiver Nate
Washington signed a one-year deal to remain with the Steelers in 2008.
Washington will enter his fourth season with the Steelers, who signed him as an
undrafted free agent in 2005. Last season, Washington caught 29 passes for 450
yards with a career-high five touchdowns. He has 64 catches for 1057 yards with
nine scores in 33 games, including five starts.
