Tiffin golfers prepare for 2008-09 opener

Tiffin University will open their 2008-09 golf season at Northern Michigan University on Sept. 6-7 at Grey Walls Country Club. It will be the first GLIAC event of the year. A full GLIAC field will be competing, giving Tiffin an opportunity to pick up some head-to-head victories against GLIAC rivals. "I am excited about the team we have," said Coach Darby Roggow. "This is as confident as I've felt about our team in a long time." Competing for the Dragons will be Bleu George, Justin Sparks, Andy Kronander, Matt Cherry, and Jason Crow. "Qualifying this year was very competitive between our first and seventh place finish was a difference of only three strokes. If this is any indication of how strong our team is going to be, we should do well," said Roggow. Dragons results can be found at www.golfstat.com.

Dragons enjoy annual camp

Listen to Learn, Work Hard and Enjoy the Game" was the message being delivered to young golfers this week at the Tiffin University Summer Golf Camp. This year's camp marks the third year that the Tiffin University golf team has offered a golf camp for boys and girls ages 8-18. The golf camp is run by Head Golf Coach Darby Roggow and his players. "I am excited that we;are able to teach young adults the game of golf and hopefully instill an appreciation for the game," stated Coach Roggow.

The golf camp is designed to teach aspiring golfers to love the game that they will be able to play for the rest of their lives. The camp took place at Brookhaven Family Fun Center, Mohawk Golf & Country Club, and Seneca Hills Golf Club. All three facilities were used to demonstrate the fundamentals of the game, the rules of the game, and some on course golf etiquette - all while maintaining a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. "The Tiffin University Summer Golf Camp would not be as successful as it has been the last several years without the help of the members of the Tiffin University Golf Team and our local PGA Professionals, Todd Bertermann (Mohawk Golf & Country Club) and Chuck Putsch (Seneca Hills Golf Club)," stated Coach Roggow. "I cannot thank them enough for the support that they provide to the golf program."
