Dragons shut out by Kenyon 9-0 to fall to .500
Tiffin University (2-2) fell to Kenyon 9-0 on the road, with Brian Coffman falling in the closest singles match 3-6, 7-6, 4-10. The other singles losses were in straight sets. Tiffin University (2-1) dropped a number of close matches en route to a 8-1 loss to Indianapolis. Luis Carvalho won at first singles 6-4, 6-3, but TU fell in five other narrow contests. Leo Vladiminov lost 2-6, 5-7, Brian Coffman fell 2-6, 7-6, 3-6, and Santiago Revelo dropped his singles match 4-6, 5-7. In doubles play, Carvalho/Andres Torres lost 5-8, while Revelo/Vladiminov fell 6-8.Dragons beat Malone for second consecutive victory
Tiffin University (2-0) continued their solid play early in the 2009-10 season, beating Malone 6-3. Luiz Carvalho won at first singles 6-4, 6-1, while Andres Torres played a strong match to win 6-1, 6-0. Santiago Revelo pulled out a narrow victory 3-6, 7-5, 10-7, while Brian Coffman also won 6-0, 6-1. Leo Vladiminov lost a narrow singles match 5-7, 5-7, while Bryan Heisler also fell 2-6, 6-7. In doubles, Carvalho/Torres won 8-6, Vladiminov/Revelo won 8-3, and Heisler/Coffman lost a close one 7-9.TU announces Dragon Radio featuring three live events
Tiffin University is proud to announce the debut of Dragon Radio Live, a monthly radio program that will broadcast live from Madison Street Pub and Grub on Oct. 5 from 6-7 p.m. The show is part of a continuing partnership between Tiffin University and WMJK 100.9 FM and provides insight into Dragons Athletics as well as highlights the continuing development of the program and institution through the construction of the new Recreation Center and other initiatives. Alumni and Friends of the University are invited to join in the fun of a "live" show. Doors open at 5 p.m.
WMJK is the home of Dragons football, broadcasting all 11 games while
also providing an internet stream for fans to listen to abroad. Dragons
Radio will be a monthly feature highlighting all Dragons Athletic teams
along with their sponsors and supporters, with a total of three
broadcasts being live events from local establishments. Future live
broadcasts are scheduled for Nov. 16 at T.J. Willies and March 15 at
Madison Street Pub and Grub. Voice of the Dragons Frank Barber,
entering his 15th year working with Tiffin University, is the host of
the show, while a wide variety of coaches, administrators, and players
will receive exposure and provide interesting insight into Tiffin
University.
Dragons netters have mixed success at Oberlin tourney
Tiffin University competed in the two-day Oberlin Invitational, winning numerous singles and doubles matches while also dropping a number of close matches. On day one, Andres Torres won in singles play 9-8 while Brian Coffman also won 8-4. Luiz Carvalho fell in a close match 6-8 and Santiago Revelo also fell 5-8. In doubles action, Carvalho/Torres on 9-8, Coffman/Bryan Heisler won 8-5, and Revelo/Leo Vladiminov won 8-6. Revelo/Vladiminov also fell 6-8, while Carvalho/Torres lost 6-8 and Coffman/Heisler also lost a 6-8 decision.
In day two action, there were four singles winners. Carvalho won 6-0, 6-3, Vladiminov posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory, Torres won 8-0, and Heisler won 8-1. Revelo dropped a close 5-8 match. In doubles, Carvalho/Torres won 8-1 and Coffman/Heisler won 8-3, while Revelo/Vladiminov fell 6-8.
Dragons dominate West Virginia State 9-0 in fall opener
Tiffin University (1-0) had a good first match in their fall season, beating West Virginia State 9-0. All the singles wins were straight sets, with Luiz Carvalho winning 6-1, 6-0, Leo Vladiminov winning 6-1, 6-3, and Andres Torres posting a 6-2, 6-0 win. Other singles winners included Santiago Revelo 6-4, 6-0, Brian Coffman 6-0, 6-0, and Bryan Heisler 6-3, 6-1. In doubles play, Carvalho/Torres won 8-2, Vladiminov/Revelo won 8-1, and Heisler/Coffman won 8-2.Total of 76 athletes earn Spring GLIAC Academic honors
Tiffin University had 76 spring athletes that landed GLIAC All-Academic honors, as the conference announced its spring academic honorees. Overall 565 GLIAC athletes were honored. Baseball (22) and Men's Track (23) had the most honored sports in the conference in their respective sports. For the complete list, click here.
