At the All-Ohio Championships on February 13-14, the Dragons traveled to Findlay to compete against Division I and II teams from across the state.  On the men’s side, the team placed second with 96 points and two event champions as well as six national qualifying performances.  The women scored 22 points to finish ninth and also had three national qualifying events.

For the men, Anthony Thomas was the All-Ohio Champion in the 200, his 21.97 finish also an automatic qualifying mark for Division II nationals.  Thomas also had a qualifying time in the 60.  He was runner-up in the event, finishing in 6.85.  Right behind Thomas, teammate Deven Keene placed in both the 60 and the 200 as well.  He was fifth in the 60 (7.06) and sixth in the 200 (22.67).  In seventh place in the 60, Zach Ball followed Keene with a time of 7.15.

The other All-Ohio Champion on the men’s side was Travis LeFlore.  Travis qualified for the national meet with his win in the high jump with a leap of 2.07m (6’ 9.5”).  Also placing in the high jump was Riley Morman, his 1.82m (5’ 11.5”) jump landing him in sixth.  Other strong finishes in the jumps came from the pole vaulters.  Keith Reiter and Lee Miller finished in second and third, both clearing the bar at 4.93m (16’ 2”), and Alex Boyd was fifth at 4.48m (14’ 8.25”).  Both Reiter and Lee bettered their national rankings with their vaults.

Hurdler Ramone Brant also managed to earn a spot on the Division II national rankings.  Ramone placed second in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.25.  Dan Snyder also ran the 60 hurdles and finished eighth (8.66).  In addition to the hurdles, Snyder also placed sixth in the triple jump (12.15m).

Other notable performances for the Dragons came in the 800.  Jeremy Lee and Thomas Buxton finished second and third in the race (1:55.51 and 1:55.63, respectively).  In addition, Justin Ware ran 51.27 in the 400 to place eighth.  In the throws, John Pemberton was ninth in the shot put (14.50m) and Raymond Robinson was eighth in the weight throw (15.78m).  To finish off the meet for the men, the 4x400m Relay team of Keene, Michael Ballistrea, Ware, and Thomas was third in the event (3:27.66).

For the ladies, Andrea Bader had a big day, bettering her national qualifying marks and school records in two events.  In the 200, Bader placed second with a time of 25.22, and in the 60, she crossed the line in 7.71 for fourth place.  Additionally, Bader teamed up with Markita Holland, Maria Shaw, and Porshia Hutcherson for a seventh place finish in the 4x400 Relay (4:11.05).

In the field events, Megan Gill led the way with a fifth place leap in the high jump.  Gill cleared the bar at 1.57m (5’ 1.75).  Teammate Amy Buck also placed in the event, jumping 1.47m (4’ 9.75”) for eighth place.  Additionally, Kristen Ameling threw the shot put 13.73m (45’ 0.5”) for a seventh place finish.

Next week, Tiffin Track and Field will be on the road to Kent State University in the final indoor meet before the GLIAC Championships.
