This past weekend, the men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Miami Team Challenge, held at Miami University of Ohio. The men’s team finished fourth out of eleven teams, behind only Division I foes Miami and Buffalo, and being edged out of third place by Findlay by 1.5 points. Ramone Brant claimed the sole event victory for the Dragons, winning the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.89 seconds. Raymond Robinson posted the second-best mark ever by a Dragon in the discus event with a 46.73 meter throw. Jeremy Lee took second place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:57.66, while the Dragons 4x100 meter relay team took third with a time of 44.05 seconds. Thomas Buxton (5th) and Charles Faerber earned top-ten finishes in the 800 meter run with times of 1:59:06 and 2:02.22, respectively. Alex Boyd’s time of 11.27 seconds earned him sixth in the 100 meter dash, while Chad Johnson’s time of 52.13 seconds placed him eighth in the 400 meter dash. Dragons Bryon Toran (7th) and Ramone Brant (10th) placed in the 200 meter dash with times of 22.90 and 23.05 seconds, respectively, while Jason Shelnick took eighth in the 400 meter hurdle event with a time of 59 seconds.

The women’s track and field squad finished 12th out of 14 teams at Miami, with Andrea Bader providing the highlight by setting one school record and earning the third-best mark in another event. Bader’s 25 second performance in the 200 meter dash earned her second in the event, but tops in the Lady Dragon record books, while her time of 16.02 seconds in the 100 meter hurdle event placed her third all-time. Jasmine Hopkins earned two ninth-place finishes at the meet; she finished behind Bader in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.33 seconds, and was the Dragons’ top perfomer in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.61 seconds. Also performing well at the meet was Maria Shaw, who placed seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.87.
