The men's and women's track and field teams set two school records and three NCAA qualifying marks this past weekend. At Kent State University, the men's distance medley team of Mike Ballistrea, Jeremy Lee, Thomas Buxton, and Jason Bumb qualified for the NCAA national meet with a time of 10:04.70. The team currently has the tenth best time in Division II, while also setting a new school record in the event.

At Ohio Northern University's Friday Night Series Invitational, both teams finished second overall out of five squads. Keith Reiter set a school record in the pole vault with a mark of 16.05 feet, which qualifies him for the NCAA national meet with the seventh best score so far in Division II. Ramone Brant's time of 7.67 seconds in the 55m hurdles event also qualifies him for the national meet, giving him the 14th best time in the nation. Other top performances by the men included: Chad Roberts (4:28.32) and Dominique O'Neill (4:29.44) finishing first and second, respectively, in the mile run; Marcus Johnson winning the 500m run with a time of 1:08.54; Charles Faerber (2:07.46) and Mike Eblin (2:08.90) claiming the top two spots in the 800m run; Justin Setty winning the 5000m run with a time of 16:01.82; Dyshaun Edwards winning the triple jump with a score of 12.65 meters; John Pemberton winning the shot put event with a score of 14.42 meters; and the 4x400m relay team of James Carlson, Jason Shelnick, Matt Saam, and Kyle Smoker won their event with a time of 3:37.33.

The women's team finished only behind the host team, Ohio Northern, while winning seven events. Jasmine Hopkins won the 55m dash with a time of 7.39 seconds and finished only behind teammate Andrea Bader in the 200m dash. Bader won the 200m with a time of 26.29 seconds, while Hopkins clocked in at 27.21 seconds. Bader also won the 55m hurdle event with a time of 8.67 seconds. Maria Shaw won the 300m dash in 42.36 seconds and finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 1:03. Amy Buck won the high jump event with a score of 1.48 meters, while Katrina Schumacker won the long jump with a mark of 4.98 meters, and Kristen Ameling won the shot put competition with a throw of 12.57 meters. The final win of the weekend for the women's team came from the 4x200m relay team of Bader, Shaw, Angela Betterley, and Hopkins, who won the event with a time of 1:49.58.
