October

Tiffin University's Moses Kato and Kirsten White have been named October's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Kato, a sophomore linebacker for the football team, has a 4.00 GPA and is majoring in General Science. Kato finished among team leaders in tackles with 51, while leading the team in tackles for loss with 9 and sacks with 3. He also had one fumble recovery during the season.
September

Tiffin University's Nick Kutch and Felicia Ruiz have been named September's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Kutch, a sophomore defender for the men's soccer team, has a 3.60 cumulative GPA and is majoring in Marketing. He has been one of the top defenders for the Dragons this season. He has helped lead the Dragons to the GLIAC Tournament Championship for the second year in a row.
2008-09 Honors
April

Tiffin University's Eric Ludrowsky and Tiffany Smith have been named April's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Ludrowsky, a senior pitcher for the baseball team, has a 3.13 cumulative GPA
and is majoring in Accounting. He has been the top pitcher for the Dragons this season. He earned First Team All-GLIAC honors and set a new single season record with 66 strikeouts. He also finished 4th in the GLIAC in strikeouts.
Smith, a sophomore third baseman for the softball team, has a 3.90 cumulative GPA and is
majoring in Education. She earned Honorable Mention All-GLIAC selection while leading the team in home runs with 9. She batted .321 overall.
March

Tiffin University's Jason Bailey and Krista Sowers have been named March's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Bailey, a senior for the baseball team, has a 3.44
cumulative GPA and has been one of the leaders
for the baseball squd all season. He hit .310 in March as the Dragons season got under way, and was second on the team with 11 RBI in that stretch.
Sowers, a senior for the softball team, has a 3.63 cumulative GPA and is majoring in Accounting. She posted a 5-2 record in the month of March as TU's softball season began, registering a 3.00 ERA with 48 strikeouts and just 8 walks over 54 innings.
February

Tiffin University's Keith Reiter and Kristen Ameling have been named February's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Reiter, a senior for the men's track and field squad, has a 3.63
cumulative GPA, is majoring in Finance, and has been one of the
leaders for the nationally-ranked men's track and field squad. He placed second in the pole vault at three consecutive meets: the DII Challenge, All-Ohio meet, and Kent State Invite.
Ameling, a senior for the women's track and field team, has a 3.97 cumulative GPA and is majoring in Accounting. She was named NCAA Division II All-American in the shot put, placing 4th in the nation at the Indoor National Championships. Ameling became TU's first female NCAA All-American and was the top GLIAC competitor in the event at the National meet.
January

Tiffin University's Thomas Buxton and Leanne Lucius have been named January's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Buxton, a senior for the men's track and field squad, has a 3.97
cumulative GPA, is majoring in Marketing, and has been one of the leaders for the nationally-ranked men's track and field squad. He set new school records in the 800 meters and the distance medley relay. He also was an NCAA Nationals provisional qualifier as part of the DMR team. Previously he also won the Maryland Eastern Shores mile race and has helped lead the 4x800 meter relay team to the top time in Division II so far this season.
Lucius, a senior for the women's basketball team, has a 4.00 cumulative GPA and is
majoring in Marketing. She scored her 1000th career point in January, joining an elite group of 1000 point scorers in women's basketball history. She was recently named First Team CoSIDA All-District and will be competing for Academic All-American honors at the national level. She currently leads the team in rebounding with 7.1 rebounds per game, three pointers made, three point percentage, and is second in scoring with 253 points.
December

Tiffin University's Dan Snyder and Andrea Bader have been named December's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Snyder, a junior for the men's track and field squad, has a 3.20 cumulative GPA,
is majoring in Sports Management, and recently had a great start to the 2008-09 track and field season. Competing at the Kent State Flash Gala, Snyder provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships, posting 4650 points in the heptathlon. The point total was a school record in the event.
Bader, a senior for the track and field team, has a 3.86
cumulative GPA and is majoring in Finance. She also competed at the Kent State Flash Gala and finished 4th overall (1st amongst Division II runners) in the 200 meters with a time of 25.13, setting a school record and also posting the best time in the GLIAC in the event. She was also 5th in the hurdles and anchored the 4x400 relay team.
November

Tiffin University's Adi Vlad and Kirsten White have been named November's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Vlad, a senior for the men's soccer team, has a 4.00 cumulative GPA,
is majoring in Information Systems, and was recently named Second Team
All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after leading the Dragons to the GLIAC Tournament Championship. The team finished the season ranked sixth in the Midwest Region. He is also a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District selection, posting the top GPA among the 12 first team selections and was also the lone GLIAC athlete on the list.
October

Tiffin University's Jeremy Lee and Steffany Stoeffler have been named October's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Lee, a junior for the cross country team, has a 3.67
cumulative GPA, is majoring in Criminal Justice, and was recently named First Team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after a 7th place finish at the GLIAC Championships. He was also the All-Ohio Champion for all divisions at the 2008 All-Ohio meet. Previously he has been named a three-time USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete while also earning NCAA Division II All-American status in track last season.
Stoeffler, a senior defender for the women's soccer team, has a 3.67
cumulative GPA and is majoring in Psychology. She helped lead the Dragons
into the NCAA Division II National rankings and a second-place finish in the GLIAC. The team is 13-4-1 overall and ranked 5th in the Midwest Region. They enter the GLIAC Championships this week as the second seed.
September


Tiffin University's Matt Root and Vickie Galaska have been named September's Scholar Athletes of the Month.
Root, a senior quarterback for the football team, has a 3.53 cumulative GPA and finished an outstanding opening month for the football team. Root leads the GLIAC in many offensive categories for his passing attack. He leads the conference in passing attempts and completions and is second in total offense with 287.8 yards per game. This ranks him 17th in the nation in yards per game. Root, a Trenton native, also leads the GLIAC in passing average per game (314), total yards (1570), and touchdowns (13).
Galaska, a senior defender for the women's soccer team, has a 3.83 cumulative GPA and is majoring in Finance. She helped lead the Dragons into the NCAA Division II National rankings as the Dragons are battling for the GLIAC championship. The Dragons posted a 9-2 record in the month of September. Galaska, a Strongsville native, is a 2007 Second Team All-Ohio and All-Independent Academic selection.
