Head Track and Field/Cross Country Coach Jeremy Croy enters his ninth season at Tiffin University. Since his arrival, Coach Croy has led the Dragons to seven consecutive winning seasons. The men have posted a 300-68 record (.815) and the women 212-161 (.568) in that time. The Dragons also had their first dozen All-Americans and shattered every school record on the books.

Both track and field squads also gained their highest ever conference placing in Coach Croy’s first season and continued that success during their last season in the NAIA with the men's squad winning their fourth consecutive conference championship. Coach Croy was also recognized as the 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 AMC Coach of the Year for winning the AMC Conference Championship and finishing the season with a record of 51-2 in 2007.

The Dragons have had over 40 academic All-Americans during the relative short existence of his tenure.  During this time, the Dragons have sent student-athletes to the NCAA and NAIA National Championships in 20 events.

Croy is an Ohio Northern University graduate with a degree in Sports Management. He also was a four-year letter winner in track and cross-country, earning MVP honors for the cross-country squad. Croy obtained his Master's degree in Sports Management from Springfield College (MA). Croy, his wife (Meladie), and daughter (Corinne) reside here in Tiffin.

 

Adriane Blewitt: Throws Coach 

Adriane Blewitt begins her first year coaching the Dragon throwers after completing her last year as a professional thrower.  Ranked in the top 10 in the US shot putters for the last 8 years, Blewitt competed at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials finishing 5th and 10th respectively.  She concurrently volunteered her time as an assistant coach under Jud Logan at Ashland University for 4 years and was an assistant to John Godina at the World Throws Center in Mesa, Arizona. 

 

Blewitt graduated from Ashland University with a degree in Physical Education, Health and a minor in Coaching.  She is a 13-time NCAA Div. II All American with 7 National titles and 6 Runner Up honors in the shot put, discus, hammer, and 20# weight throw. She was named GLIAC Athlete of the Meet and 2-time NCAA Athlete of the Year in her career.  She is the former NCAA Div. II national record holder in the discus throw and current national record holder in the indoor and outdoor shot put.  Blewitt continues to own the school records at Ashland University in the shot put and discus.


 

Ron Martin: Distance Coach

Ron Martin is beginning his fourth season with Tiffin University as a distance coach. In the 3 short years that Martin has coached the "TU DISTANCE CREW", his athletes have broken 19 school records and garnered two NCAA D-II All Americans. Chad Roberts accomplished the feat in Cross Country (28th in 31:17.4) and Jeremy Lee was 3rd at the National Meet in the 1500 (3:51.53).

Ron taught health and physical education for 30 years. He has coached distance runners for over 24 years in 3 different high schools (Caldwell, Tiffin Columbian, and Seneca East). In cross country, Martin’s athletes have compiled an overall record of 2730 Wins - 354 Losses (88.5% winning percentage). His athletes have a combined total of 28 All-Ohio honors, 8 individual State Champions, and 3 high school All-Americans. His teams have finished 1st or 2nd in the State Cross Country Meet 16 times.

In Track, Martin’s distance runners have compiled 25 All-Ohio honors, 5 individual State Champions, 8 high school All-Americans, and 1 National Champion in the 5000m (15:12.7).

Ron and Bev, his wife of 30 years, are parents to 5 children (Chris, Heather, Erica, Rachel, and Rebecca).

 

 

 

Marc Small: Jumps Coach

Marc Small begins his first year coaching here at Tiffin University.  He will coach the Jumps program  after three successful years at Lake Superior State University as their sprints/jumps coach and the team’s strength and conditioning coordinator.  During his time at LSSU, Small’s athletes have broken 21 school records with over 15 top 5 finishes at the GLIAC championship meets, and he also helped train a 2007 NCAA All American. 

Small graduated from Tiffin University in 2006 with a degree in Sports Management.  He also received a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction and completed his track career at LSSU. In addition to coaching Marc taught weight training classes in the department of recreational studies, and was an academic adviser for the Lake State track team.

In 2006 Marc was a part of 6 school records at TU and helped lead the team to 3 consecutive championships.  He is now currently ranked in Tiffin Track’s Top 10 list in 5 indoor events/ 3 outdoor, and also is currently part of two school records at Lake State (indoor 4x400m and the DMR).

 

Charlie Massi: Sprinters and Relays Coach

Charlie Massi enters his first year as an assistant coach at Tiffin University, where he leads the Dragon sprinters and relay teams. Massi is a native of Seville, Ohio. As a collegiate athlete, Massi ran for legendary Coach Bill Gallagher at Ashland University. Massi was a 2-time 800 meter conference runner up, 2-time member of the 1600 meter relay and 3200 meter relay conference champion, 1st team All-Ohio in the 800 meter and member of 5 conference champion teams. In cross country, Massi was a national qualifier and a member of the 5th place team at NCAA Div. II Nationals in Kearney, Nebraska.
 
Massi still holds the Ashland University freshmen indoor track & field record in the 600 meter (1:22.40). As a prep, Massi was a 6-time state qualifier in track and cross country, 4th place finisher in the 1600 meter (4:19.67) and 800 meter (1:54.60) at the state track meet. Massi earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Ashland University in 1999 and currently working on his master's degree in business administration at Tiffin University. The TU assistant coach also works as a crop insurance adjuster for Pro Ag. Massi resides in Tiffin, Ohio with his wife Mary. 


 

 

Bev Buckley: Distance Coach 

Bev Buckley is beginning her second year at Tiffin University as a distance coach. Coach Buckley has been a high school guidance counselor for 10 years and has 23 years of coaching experience at Fremont Ross High School and Heidelberg College. In this time, Buckley has sent two athletes to the NCAA Division III National meet in cross country and two athletes in track and field. Buckley has also had 35 Academic All-Americans and 8 All-Region cross country runners. In the OAC, Buckley coached 8 conference champions in track and field and 2 OAC champions. In addition, one individual on Buckley's squad earned an All-Ohio Championship. Coach Buckley resides in Tiffin with her husband of 10 years, Tony.   

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

Brian Cole: Pole Vault Coach

Brian Cole enters his second year working with the pole vaulters/hurdlers this year for the Dragons.  Cole served for eleven successful years as the head coach of the Ohio Northern University Track and Field Teams and for five years as the Head Coach at Methodist College (NC).  A Tiffin native, Cole was named the Great Lakes Region Women’s Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year in 1998 and 2006; the Men’s Outdoor Region Coach of the Year in 1995 and 1996; and the Men’s Indoor Region Coach of the Year in 1997.  While at ONU, Cole coached two National Champions, 24 All-Americans, 105 Conference Champions, and 301 All-Conference performers.  

Cole helped coach 4 NCAA qualifiers during his first season with the Dragons and also helped Keith Reiter and Andrea Bader establish school records in the pole vault and long jump as well.

 

 

 

 

 

Thomas Buxton: Long Sprints and Mid-Distance

Thomas Buxton joins the Dragons coaching staff after four successful years of running at Tiffin. During that time, Thomas compiled numerous automatic and provisional marks at the NAIA and NCAA levels while also being a part of four school records. He was also a multiple time Scholar Athlete and was chosen to receive the GLIAC Commissioners Award. He was also an CoSIDA ESPN Academic All-District selection.

Buxton will coach long sprints and mid-distance for this year's Dragon squad.
