Student Success Stories: Real Connections With Career Development!

Real Resources For Real Connections

Tiffin University’s Career Development Office has the real resources to help you make real connections with internships and jobs.  Our goal is your real-world success!  Here are just some of the recent success stories from Career Development.

Meet Anthony:

When TU football player Anthony enrolled as a freshman marketing major, he was keenly aware of the importance of career planning.  Anthony knew the importance of student involvement and work experience.  As a TU Resident Assistant, Anthony gained practical leadership and problem-solving skills. He also realized the importance of making a real connection with the Career Development Office.

Through his involvement on campus, and utilizing the Career Development Resume Writing Workshops, Anthony secured an internship with a multi-national corporation.  During the internship he incorporated the real-world academic knowledge he gained in the TU classrooms with hands-on work experience. Anthony feels it was the combination of his student involvement and his internship that helped him secure several job offers after he attended the Annual TU Job Fair on campus.

Meet Mary Ann:

Mary Ann enrolled as an “undecided student” with Tiffin University.  She knew she needed to identify her goals as soon as possible so she could declare a major.  Mary Ann contacted the Career Development Office to use an online career resource tool, which helped her assess her strengths, values and goals.  With the help of the assessment tool, she decided to major in English.

Mary Ann maintains a 3.96 GPA while participating in Student Government, band, and the student newspaper.  During her junior year, she chose to take advantage of the Mock Interview Days on campus, as well as looking into graduate school possibilities. After further evaluating her career goals, Mary Ann has decided to pursue graduate school.

Meet Todd:

Todd had a childhood goal of working for the federal government. When Todd decided to attend TU, he knew he wanted to be a law enforcement major.  During his time at TU, he was active in the ROTC program and the Sigma Omega Sigma Fraternity.

As a junior, Todd participated in the Washington Internship Program.   The program is a combination of work and study while students are placed in our nation’s capital for a semester.  Todd had the opportunity to network with several different government and private organizations. Upon graduation, Todd accepted an offer with the United States Marshals Service.

Meet Charles:

Charles chose Tiffin University for the small, friendly campus.  When he arrived on campus, he joined the choir and participated in intramural sports. Unsure of his career and long-term goals, he turned to the Career Development Office for help.  He also utilized the office to find an on-campus job in the bookstore.

Using the extensive on-line career resource tools, Charles identified his interests and strengths. He decided to major in Corrections and completed an internship with the Ohio State Patrol.  The internship helped him apply the academic knowledge he learned in his Tiffin University courses with real-world scenarios and problems in the field.  Through his contacts he made while working in his internship, Charles had already arranged a full-time position with the Ohio State Patrol upon graduation.
