Real Resources: Grants & Scholarships

If you qualify, grants and scholarships can help ease the cost of your Tiffin University education.  Grants and scholarships are available in many areas, from many providers.  Listed below are just a few of your grant and scholarship options.  For more information on whether you’re eligible for these real resources, please contact us in The Financial Aid Office.  We’re here to help!

What are Grants?

Grants are forms of financial aid you do not repay! Generally you must be an undergraduate student, and the amount you receive depends on your need, cost of attendance, and your enrollment status.  

Real Resources: Grants 

Federal Pell Grant: Available exclusively to undergraduates through the federal government as determined by your FAFSA form.

Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant: Available to undergraduates with exceptional financial need; priority is given to Federal Pell Grant recipients.  Funds depend on availability.

Ohio Instructional Grant: This is a State of Ohio grant that provides need-based tuition assistance to full-time undergraduate students from low- and moderate-income families. Awards are based on family income with consideration given to the number of dependents in the family. This grant is determined by your FAFSA form.

Ohio College Opportunity Grant:  This is need-based tuition assistance to Ohio students from low- to moderate-income families.

Ohio Choice Grant:This grant is made available by the State of Ohio. Residents who enroll full time in a bachelor’s degree program at a private college or university, and who have not been a full-time student at a post-secondary school prior to July 1, 1984, may be eligible for this award.

Michigan Merit Award:  This award is offered through the state of Michigan. This offers Michigan high school graduates awards for outstanding scores on their MEAP tests, or Michigan Merit Exams. 

Pennsylvania State Grants:  The State of Pennsylvania offers grants to Pennsylvania residents who are undergraduate students attending a PHEAA-approved college or institution. You must file the FAFSA to apply.

What are Scholarships?

A scholarship is a sum of money or other aid granted to a student because of merit, need, or other reasons to pursue his or her studies. Unlike loans, scholarship money awarded does not have to be repaid.

Merit Scholarships:  Amounts have increased for the 2008 enrollment term. Earn up to $40,000

Fraternal Order of Police Scholarship New students enrolled in TU’s Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ) Fast Track Degree Completion Program or Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Fast Track Degree Completion Program will receive a Fraternal Order of Police scholarship of $150 per credit hour.

New students enrolled in any Tiffin University graduate program will receive a Fraternal Order of Police scholarship of $250 per credit hour.

Lambda Alpha Epsilon Scholarship:  The American Criminal Justice Association/Lambda Alpha Epsilon is a professional association composed of persons who are currently, or were: 

- employed in an area concerned with the administration of criminal justice;

- persons honorably retired from a career in an area concerned with the administration of criminal justice;

- persons enrolled in a program of study in the criminal justice field at a college or university accredited by a recognized national or regional accreditation association, and/or;

- persons involved in volunteer work directly related to the administration of criminal justice.

Students in the BCJ Fast Track Degree Completion Program will receive a Lambda Alpha Epsilon scholarship of $150 per credit hour if they earned an associate's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and were a member of Lambda Alpha Epsilon for at least one year.

Athletic Scholarships: Tiffin University offers athletic scholarships for intercollegiate sports in the areas of baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and equestrian based on your athletic ability.

Activity Scholarships: Tiffin University offers generous scholarships for Cheerleading, Theatre Performance, and membership in the Musical Arts program in either vocal or instrumental ensemble.

Academic Scholarships: Merit-based scholarships.  Please contact The Financial Aid Office.

STUDENTS INTERESTED IN ATTENDING TU through the Tuition Exchange, Inc. Scholarship Program.

Students whose parent(s) works for another college or university may be eligible to apply for Tuition Exchange Scholarship.  This scholarship application process must be initiated through the Tuition Exchange liaison at his/her sponsor college (parent’s employer). The tuition award at Tiffin University is $17,220 for 2008-2009.  A list of participating institutions can be found at the Tuition Exchange, Inc. website https://www.tuitionexchange.org/partinst.cfm

The Tuition Exchange process is totally separate from the admissions process. Tiffin University Admissions information may be obtained by contacting the Office of Admissions, 800-968-6446 or by visiting the TU website, www.tiffin.edu

To be considered for other types of financial aid, we recommend that you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)  (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/) . Students receiving a Tuition Exchange award are required file the FAFSA.
