If you qualify, scholarships, discounts, and grants can help ease the cost of your Tiffin University education. Scholarships, discounts, and grants are available in many areas, from many providers. Listed below are just a few of your grant and scholarship options. For more information on whether you're eligible for these real resources, please contact us in The Financial Aid Office. What are Scholarships, Discounts, and/or Grants?

A scholarship, discount, or grant is a sum of money or other aid granted to a student because of merit, need, or other reasons to pursue his or her studies. Unlike loans, this type of aid does not have to be repaid.

 

Federal and State Aid

    Federal Pell Grant:

  • Available exclusively to undergraduates
  • Must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Depends on your status as a full-time or part-time student
  • Must have financial need
  • Based on your cost of attendance and if you plan to attend the full year or less
  • Undergraduate Students Only

    Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG):

  • Available exclusively to undergraduates
  • Requires exceptional financial need
  • Priority is given to Federal Pell Grant recipients.
  • Funds depend on availability.
  • Undergraduate Students Only

    State of Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG):

 

Tiffin University Aid

Tiffin University Academic Scholarships for on-campus First Year Undergraduates only:

Trustee Scholarship: $13,000
President Scholarship: $11,000
Dean Grant: $9,000
Achievement Grant: $5,000

 

Tiffin University Transfer Academic Scholarships for on-campus Undergraduate Transfer Students only:

Transfer Trustee Scholarship: $9,000
Transfer President Scholarship: $8,000
Transfer Dean Grant: $6,000
Transfer Achievement Grant: $5,000

Academic scholarships are awarded to full-time on campus students during their first year or to transfer students. Students must maintain a 2.50 cumulative grade point average keep the Trustees and Presidents Scholarship and a 2.0 cumulative grade point average to maintain the Deans and Achievement Scholarship. The amount awarded to a first year or transfer student is the amount they can continue to receive as long as the student meets the required cumulative grade point average. We do not move scholarship amounts up after the first year.  This scholarship can not go toward bookstore charges.

 

Activity Scholarships:

Tiffin University offers generous scholarships for Cheerleading, Theatre Performance, and the Music Program.  Check it out at Cheerleading or Performing Arts

 

Athletic Scholarships:

AVI Employee Discount

AVI Employees will be eligible to receive a discount towards tuition from Tiffin University.  A letter from your HR department stating that you are an employee must be provided in order to receive this discount.

Eligible students may receive the following:

  • Graduate Degree Students: $250 per credit hour discount
  • Online and Off Campus Program Students: $150 per credit hour discount

 

Bachelor's Degree Discount

Individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree will receive a fifty percent discount of the tuition rate for on-campus undergraduate courses. Confirmation of the degree, in the form of an official transcript must be presented to the Office of Registration and Records before enrollment.

 

Commodore Perry Member and Employee Discount

Commodore Perry members and employees will be eligible to receive a discount towards tuition from Tiffin University.  Members must provide a current statement or letter from the credit union showing that you are a current member and employees must provide a letter from your HR department stating that you are an employee, in order to receive this discount.

Eligible students may receive the following:

  • Graduate Degree Students: $250 per credit hour discount
  • Online and Off Campus Program Students: $150 per credit hour discount

 

Dragon Diversity Scholarship

Domestic under-represented (minority) undergraduate students on the Tiffin Campus with a Tiffin University cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher and demonstrated financial need are eligible to be considered for a non-renewable Dragon Diversity Scholarship.  The awards are determined by the Diversity Committee in the spring semester for the following academic year.  Students who receive grants for participating in athletics, music/dance, cheerleading, or theatre are not eligible to apply for a Diversity Scholarship.

 

Dragon Leadership Scholarship

Undergraduate students on the Tiffin campus are eligible to be considered for a non-renewable Dragon Leadership Scholarship, with awards determined by the Retention Committee in the spring semester for the following academic year.  Students who receive grants for participating in athletics, music/dance, cheerleading, or theatre are not eligible to apply for the Dragon Leadership Scholarship.

 

Fraternal Order of Police Scholarship:

A member and a spouse of the FOP may be eligible for an FOP discount. Students enrolled in TU's Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ) Online and Off Campus Program, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Online and Off Campus Program, or Graduate Degree Program may receive a Fraternal Order of Police scholarship towards tuition. Students must provide a copy of their FOP membership ID card to receive this discount.

Eligible students may receive the following:

  • Graduate Degree Students: $250 per credit hour discount
  • Online and Off Campus Program Students: $150 per credit hour discount

 

Graduate Alumni Discount

Graduate students whose bachelors degree was obtained from Tiffin University, will be eligible to receive a $150 per credit hour discount.

Los Angeles, CA County Employee Discount

Los Angeles, CA County Employees will be eligible to receive a discount towards tuition from Tiffin University.  A letter from your HR department stating that you are an employee or a copy of your current badge, must be provided in order to receive this discount.

Eligible students may receive the following:

  • Graduate Degree Students: $250 per credit hour discount
  • Online and Off Campus Program Students: $150 per credit hour discount

 

Marathon Employee Discount

Marathon Employees will be eligible to receive a discount towards tuition from Tiffin University.  A letter from your HR department stating that you are an employee must be provided in order to receive this discount.

Eligible students may receive the following:

  • Graduate Degree Students: $250 per credit hour discount
  • Online and Off Campus Program Students: $150 per credit hour discount

 

Military Discount

A serving member of the armed forces and spouses of active military, including the Armed Forces Reserve and National Guard, will be eligible to receive a discount towards tuition from Tiffin University. A copy of an active military ID card for the serving member or letter from the Education Officer stating that you or the spouse is an active military member must be provided in order to receive this discount.

Eligible students may receive the following:

  • Graduate Degree Students: $250 per credit hour discount
  • Online and Off Campus Program Students: $150 per credit hour discount

 

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Full time Undergraduate on-campus students who are a member of Phi Theta Kappa will be eligible to receive $500 per semester from Tiffin University. Members must provide a copy of their certificate.

 

Senior Citizen Discount

Those who are 60 years old or older may take courses for personal enrichment, and not for credit, for a fee of $25.00 for each course. Such enrollment is subject to availability of space and discretion of the University.

 

StraighterLine, Inc. Discount

StraighterLine, Inc. students will be eligible to receive a discount towards tuition from Tiffin University.  Students must have completed a minimum of four (4) courses and provide an official transcript through StraighterLine, Inc. in order to receive the tuition discount.

Eligible students may receive the following:

  • Graduate Degree Students: $250 per credit hour discount
  • Online and Off Campus Program Students: $150 per credit hour discount

*Students are only eligible to receive one institutional scholarship/discount.  All financial aid documents required for financial aid and all admissions documents required for admissions is required.  Financial Aid will NOT disburse onto accounts until all final official documents are received.

 

Outside Scholarships:

Tuition Exchange, Inc. Scholarship Program

Students whose parent(s) works for another college or university may be eligible to apply for Tuition Exchange Scholarship. This scholarship application process must be initiated through the Tuition Exchange liaison at his/her sponsor college (parent's employer). The tuition award at Tiffin University is $22,140 for 2015-2016. A list of participating institutions can be found at the Tuition Exchange, Inc. website http://www.tuitionexchange.org/partinst.cfm

The Tuition Exchange process is totally separate from the admissions process. Tiffin University Admissions information may be obtained by contacting the Office of Admissions, 800-968-6446.

To be considered for other types of financial aid, we recommend that you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students receiving a Tuition Exchange award are required to file the FAFSA.
