The Tiffin University Master of Business Administration (MBA) concentration in Sports Management assists students in enhancing your managerial skills through the delivery of techniques and best practices that integrate academic theory with contemporary business applications in the sports industry. This is where the classroom meets the real world of sports!
The preparation for managerial opportunities in professional, intercollegiate, and recreational sports recognizes the need for developing practitioners who understand the dynamic nature of the business and apply responsive and prudent skills in decision-making and operations. To put it simply, we provide you with a relevant academic background that will translate to real results and real connections!
This program places a premium on enhancing applied critical thinking skills and ethical decision-making practices in a chosen sport industry segment. The primary goal of the concentration is to assist you in reaching your personal, educational and professional objectives in a sport-specific environment.
The Mentorship Program
One of the great advantages of the MBA in Sports Management is that you will be required to participate in a supervised mentorship program with an individual who has appropriate experience and is able to demonstrate a record of outstanding contribution to the profession. We make it easy for you and can accommodate flexible scheduling for mentorships in any semester ~ spring, summer, or fall!
Olympic Connection
The university coordinates a cross-cultural experience with the summer Olympic Games offering academic credit for students accepted to the scholars program in Athens, Greece (2004); Beijing, China (2008); and London, England (2012). Official Volunteers can count contact hours for their Mentorship or may substitute a course in the sports management concentration. Students have the opportunity to interact with members of the USOC and IOC.
Your TU MBA Can Lead You To Real-World Success: Careers!TU notables include the NFL Vice President of Player Development, a majority team owner of a minor league franchise, an NFL scout, a former Assistant GM, a two-time NFL Super Bowl wide receiver, and a PGA tournament director. In 2009-2010, students interned with the Cleveland Indians, Womens Sports Foundation, Salem Red Sox, LRMR (LeBron James) Marketing Company, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. Several courses in The BBA and MBA are taught by a certified NBA sports agent, President of the National Olympians Association in Sierra Leone [Africa], and the former Director of Media Relations for the Boston Celtics and Marketing Coordinator for the Atlanta Braves.
