We’re As Real As It Gets!
Tiffin University’s Degree Completion Program has helped hundreds of students achieve their academic goals, leading them to real-world success, all while working classes around their busy work and personal schedules. Here are just a few of TU’s “Student Success Stories.”
Meet Michael John Lawler:
“My name is Michael John Lawler and I am 40 years old. I am currently a student at the Tiffin University’s Toledo Academic Center, pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. I have been enrolled in the Fast Track program since September of 2006. I am currently not working in the field of criminal justice but in the near future I plan to pursue my career with the FBI or CIA. I plan on continuing my education by obtaining a Master’s in Forensic Psychology. Tiffin University’s Fast Track program has already opened some doors to the future for possible employment opportunities. The main reason for continuing my education was to better myself and to be a positive mentor to children or young adults – to show them that life means more than just ‘hanging out’ on the street. I personally would recommend Tiffin University and its programs to anyone who has the drive to finish his or her education.”
Meet Deb Bourn:
“I first became interested in the Tiffin University’s Fast Track Program during my last quarter at Owens Community College. I had approached my dean with the desire of furthering my education with a four-year degree in Criminal Justice. After further discussing the option of Tiffin University’s Fast Track Program, I discovered that Tiffin’s program had the convenience and flexibility I was looking for. I am on track to receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in less than two years. Tiffin University’s Fast Track program is perfect for non-traditional students like me – a mother of two, returning to school after many years. Obtaining my criminal justice degree and moving on to pursue my graduate degree will aid me in my goals to work with the disadvantaged and to serve as a positive example for my sons. I want my boys to see, understand, and appreciate the many options and opportunities that are available to them.”
Meet Ron Frederick:
“My name is Ron Frederick and I work for the Toledo Police Department. I have been employed with the department since 1993. Currently I’m serving as a Sergeant in the field operations division. In addition to Toledo, I am also employed as an academy instructor at Owens Community College. My goal is to obtain a degree in Criminal Justice to increase my opportunities for job advancement. Within the past few years, education has become a necessary requirement for advancement in the policing field. This has created a need for officers to obtain degrees while still working full-time in the field. Working full-time, part-time and raising a child has limited my free time for education. For these reasons I selected the BCJ Fast Track degree program. Classes meet only one day a week and the program will be completed in twenty months. Upon completion I will receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Another benefit of the program is that teachers are professionals in the field they instruct. They bring actual experience to the classroom and understand the challenges faced by working students. The Fast Track program is a writing-based program. Being a marginal writer, I was uncomfortable with this concept at the beginning of my cohort. However, the instructors have been understanding and very helpful. Upon completion, I will have the confidence in my writing ability to pursue a master’s degree. I would highly recommend this program to working professionals desiring to rapidly obtain a bachelor’s degree for workplace advancement.”
