“Real Opportunities:” A Student Success Story

Meet Joelle Hall

“Coming to Tiffin University from a city like Columbus, Ohio has definitely been a learning experience for me,” Joelle Hall remarks.  “When I started cheerleading camp over the summer of my freshman year, I realized that being at TU would be an unforgettable four-year journey.”

When Joelle enrolled as a freshman, she says she was sheltered and somewhat close-minded.  “I was set in my ways and I had not really experienced much in my then 18 years of living,” she recalls.  In fact, she was “completely petrified” of being on her own, and was still dependent on her father for most everything.

Things quickly changed for Joelle, however.  Two years later, she is now a junior at TU.  She says that the amount of personal growth she has experienced since her freshman year has been indescribable.

“I met so many people who were willing to go the extra mile to help me with everything, and I encountered the kind of friends you know you’re going to have for the rest of your life,” she says.  “I have experienced more in my three years here than I had in my 18 years living in Columbus. A very few friends have come and gone, but pledging my sorority, Gamma Chi Alpha, has given me lifelong sisters and best friends.”

As a student, she began to open her mind to new concepts and she became more confident.  She now works for Tiffin University as a Student Ambassador, which has only added to her self-confidence.

“Every day I am here, I grow to love TU more and more,” she says.

How much has Joelle’s life changed?  When she first applied to TU as a high school senior, she made a deal with her father.  She would try TU for a semester, but if she didn’t like the university, she would transfer to a bigger school.  And she says she was pretty sure that she would end up leaving.  “I am still here, and enjoying every minute of it,” she says proudly.

“Here at TU, you are not a number, but your own individual person,” Joelle adds.  “Although I’ll be graduating next year, I know my memories from TU will stay with me forever, and Tiffin will always be a part of me.”

Like so many other students, Joelle has found a real community of caring students, staff and faculty on the Tiffin University campus.  And like so many other students, she has also found that she’s receiving an education for real life!
