13_expert_faculty Faculty Make It Real

At Tiffin, we have 133 distinguished full-time and adjunct faculty, and 80 percent of our full-time faculty hold doctorates or the highest certification in their profession. Many serve as consultants in their field of study and remain closely connected to their industry. Because of this, you'll have plenty of opportunities to put learning into action. You'll gain real-world experience through fieldwork and internships and benefit from the connections that our faculty have in various industries.

Whether you want to learn on campus or online, our faculty members are skilled at making each student's educational experience personable and engaging. We offer small classes, so our faculty know your name and will help you discover your potential. If you are an on-campus student, you can stop by your faculty member's office and talk one-on-one. If you are studying online, faculty are available for online chats to answer questions and discuss assignments. If you're in one of our degree completion programs, you will take each course with the same group of students—we call this a cohort—and your faculty member will spend a good portion of each four-hour class answering questions and working individually with students.

We are proud of the distinguished faculty who have chosen to share their real-world experiences with our students.
Our faculty members have worked in The White House, in the top echelon of the United States Armed Forces, and for Fortune 500 companies.

For example:
In the School of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences, Mark Stallo and Deborah Osborne, adjunct faculty in Tiffin's graduate program in crime analysis, have recently published new research in their field. Osborne is a crime analyst with the police department in Buffalo, New York.  "Students are indeed fortunate to be taught by some of the nation's most recognized crime analysts and authors in the field of crime analysis," said Keith Haley, professor and chair of Tiffin's Department of Criminal Justice.

In the School of Business,
Tom Debbink spent 13 years with General Motors in several different staff areas, including direct manufacturing, quality engineering, salaried personnel administration, and purchasing. He has been a consultant to General Motors, NCR Corporation, and the United States Navy.

In the
School of Arts and Sciences, Michael Howell is an assistant professor of art history and fine arts and the director of Tiffin's Diane Kidd Gallery. He came to Tiffin with more than 10 years of museum and gallery experience that includes curatorial research, exhibition development and design, marketing and public relations, and management.

As William Stinchcomb, a senior forensic psychology major, said, "At the end of the day, Tiffin has everything I want and need. It's a close-knit and supportive community where you get a lot of one-on-one attention from talented, experienced faculty."
