What enrollment terms are available for the international students?

  • International Students can apply for our spring (January) and fall (August) enrollment terms.

What are the application deadlines?

  • Students must submit an application by July 15 to enroll for fall semester (August) and November 15 for spring semester (January).

How can I submit the required documents?

  • You will be required to upload or attach copies of your documents when completing the application. However, you are required to submit official or original transcripts upon arrival to the University.

Is there a minimum GPA required to apply to TU?

  • Yes. The minimum GPA required for each degree program
    • Undergraduate freshman applicants is 2.0 GPA
    • Undergraduate transfer applicants is 2.0 GPA
    • Graduate applicants is 3.0 GPA
  • The GPA requirements are based on a 4.0 scale. GPA calculations can vary from country to country. Tiffin University carefully calculates a GPA based on the education requirements from the country of study.

Is the TOEFL or IELTS required?

  • Yes. The minimum score required for each degree program
    • Undergraduate-Satisfactory TOEFL score (61iBT) or IELTS score 5.0 or iTEP score 3.4*
    • Graduate-Satisfactory TOEFL score (550 PBT/79-80ibt) or IELTS score 6 or iTEP score 3.9*

*Applicants who are unable to meet the language proficiency standards or who do not have proof of proficiency can receive a Conditional Acceptance.

Duolingo, iTep, and other scores – English Proficiency Scores

Applicants from the following English-only countries do not need to prove English proficiency: Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada (except Quebec), Dominica, Grenada, Cayman Islands, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Liberia, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and United Kingdom.

Do I need to submit GMAT or GRE scores with the graduate application?

  • No. GMAT and GRE scores are not mandatory to apply to Tiffin University. The Admissions Committee takes a holistic approach towards evaluating student applications. The committee makes an admission decision based on the student’s complete profile instead of solely focusing on test scores.

Does TU accept transfer credit from other programs?

  • Yes. We do accept transfer credit from other universities for our undergraduate and graduate degree programs. A preliminary transfer credit evaluation is performed at the time a completed application is reviewed.  You are required to submit course descriptions.

What is the length of the program?

  • Graduate degree programs can be completed in approximately 24 months. Bachelor degree programs can be completed in approximately 48 months depending on your class level and number of transfer credits awarded.

Are international students eligible for financial aid and scholarships?

  • International students are not eligible for financial aid; however, they do qualify for a generous merit scholarship from Tiffin University. Scholarship amounts are determined after a thorough review of the student’s application.

How long will it take for the admissions committee to make a decision on my application?

  • Once we receive all the required documents, it usually takes about 7 to 10 working days for the Admissions Committee to make an admission decision. Please note that we do not review applications that are considered incomplete.

How will I be informed of my application status?

  • Students can access their online application account. We will be in regular contact with the applicant via phone and email to help with the application process.

When and how will I receive my I-20?

  • Once admitted, Tiffin University will mail you a Form I-20 to the mailing address on your International Student Application within 7-14 business days. It is very important that the address information is as accurate and complete as possible.

How do I apply for my visa?

  • The Visa Interview Guide located in the I-20 packet will contain detailed instructions on scheduling a visa interview at the nearest US consulate in your country. You can select your nearest US embassy to find out more details about the country-specific required documents and visa interview process.

How do I pay my SEVIS fee?

What is your policy on deferred admission?

  • You may request to defer your admission to the following semester; however, approval is required from the Executive Director of International Admissions. If approved, you are required to submit updated financial documents before a new I-20 can be sent.

When can I arrive to campus?

  • Once you receive a visa, specific arrival information will be provided to you. You should make note of the mandatory orientation date located in your admit letter and program start date on your I-20.

What airport should I fly into?

  • You should make arrangements to arrive at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW).

Will somebody from TU pick me up from the airport?

  • Yes. Tiffin University provides airport pick-up service free of charge to all new students. Please note that you are required to submit a Student Travel Itinerary form at least four (4) days prior to your arrival date to receive the airport pick-up service.

Is Orientation mandatory for all the international students?

  • The orientation date can be found on your admit letter to Tiffin University.

Am I required to live on-campus?

  • Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are required to live on-campus unless 24 years of age of older. All graduate students are permitted to live off-campus.

How much does it cost if I live off-campus?

  • The city of Tiffin is very safe and affordable. Depending on the quality of housing, rental prices typically range from $400-$1000 per month, depending on the housing choices.

Can I work while in school?

  • International students studying on an F-1 visa can work on Tiffin University’s campus only and cannot exceed 20 hours per week. Please note that employment on the Tiffin University campus is not guaranteed and is highly competitive.
