Hip Hop Collectives

Tiffin University’s Word on the Street is a Funk/Fusion ensemble that takes inspiration from a wide variety of genres and artists. Once a more traditional jazz ensemble, the group now aims to put a funky and modern interpretation on classic songs as well as perform charts from today’s hippest jam bands. The group takes strong influences from acts such as Snarky Puppy, Vulfpeck, Scary Pockets, Corey Wong, James Brown and many others. Directed by Drew Parent, TU Word on the Street can be heard frequently on campus, around the community, and on tour around the region.

Other commercial music small groups are established each year based upon the special talents and interests of TU students.  These groups also receive direction, mentoring and performance support from TU’s faculty and staff of experienced performers and educators.
