New Student Arrival & Orientation
Arriving on campus for your first semester at Tiffin University is one of the final steps in the journey towards becoming an international degree-seeking student in the United States. The information below outlines some important dates and things to consider as you prepare for your arrival in Tiffin. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon!
When to Arrive on Campus
Federal regulations indicate that students may arrive in the U.S. no more than 30 days prior to the program start date indicated on the I-20 form. Tiffin University, however, is not able to accommodate incoming international students any earlier than Monday, August 20, 2018, unless you are an athlete or performing art participant whose team requires you to arrive earlier for training. Arrival information for athletes and performing arts students will be communicated directly from the respective coach or director.
What to Bring to Campus
As you prepare to arrive on campus, you will certainly have a good deal of packing to do. With your International Student Information Packet, you should have received valuable information regarding the climate in Tiffin, as well as some other helpful tips to help you prepare. For more information on what to bring and what not to bring to campus, please visit the Residence Life. Student will be provided transportation to local stores multiple times during orientation to purchase any items that are too large to pack.
Tiffin University provides free transportation from Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) only. Transportation dates and space are limited, so we require students to make a reservation for the service. You have to make a reservation at least four (4) days before the arrival of your flight to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW). In order to utilize this service, you must complete the Student Travel Itinerary form at least four (4) days before the arrival of your flight to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW).
Check-In at Tiffin University
Upon arrival to the University, your first stop will be the International Affairs Office in the Welcome Center. All students must check in by 8:30 a.m. (EST) by Tuesday, August 21, 2018. We will then begin the mandatory orientation program.
International Student Orientation (MANDATORY)
All new international students are required to participate in the International Student Orientation. Your Orientation date can be found in your admittance letter.
Orientation activities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Walking tour of campus
- Bus tour of Tiffin, Ohio
- Meet and Greet Dinner with faculty, staff, and current international students
- Integrated Essay & Accuplacer Exam (for English language placement purposes)
- Presentations from Student Affairs and Academic Affairs
- Tuition payment session
- Computer account session
