Earlier this month, the community welcomed over 250 international students from Tiffin University, Heidelberg University and the local high schools. City and county administrators, staff and faculty from both universities and local residents gathered at The Chandelier in downtown Tiffin for the “Tiffin Welcomes the World” annual event.

Presidents Dr. Lillian Schumacher and Dr. Rob Huntington were among those on hand to meet the international students.

As part of the event, the Seneca County Commissioners designated September 5, 2017 Seneca County Welcomes the World Day. County Commissioner Shane Thomas presented the proclamation to the presidents, recognizing the importance of creating an inclusive and welcoming community for people of all races and nationalities.

New international TU students hail from 27 states and 19 countries. New countries this year include Austria and Zambia.

The annual event was sponsored by both universities and the International Cultural Center.
