Who qualifies for this program?
To be eligible for this program, students must be an incoming first-year student, have a 2.5 GPA or below, and placed into developmental math, English, and reading courses based on their standardized test scores.
Why should I enroll in this program?
The Dragon Prep Summer Bridge Program provides workshops, classes, and activities that teach you about campus technology, services, and basic academic skills such as math, reading, and writing in college. The program is designed to be a head start into college life because we understand that this is a transition for you, and as a new student, it will take some adjustment. Students who complete the two-week campus-based program will have a greater opportunity for success starting Day 1 of the Fall semester.
How does the program help?
It saves money and time! Imagine getting a two-week head start in the race of a lifetime. That advantage puts you far ahead of the competition! Students who complete the program are not only better prepared academically, but they can shorten their time to graduation. If you have been scheduled for a course below the 100 level, you may end up needing an extra semester or more to graduate. Successful completion of this program allows you to move directly to 100 level courses and provides you with the opportunity to graduate on time without paying extra tuition money to stay that extra semester or more to finish out your degree.
How much does the program cost?
The program is FREE! First-time incoming freshmen pay nothing and reap the benefits of a group of faculty and staff who are dedicated to your success at the university and beyond. We cover your housing, food, activities, and required materials. All you have to do is register, come to campus ready to learn, participate throughout the two weeks, and successfully complete the program.
How do I register for the program?
This program is invite only. You can complete the registration form through the Admissions Office invitation. Space is limited to the first 45 students who register.
