Congratulations to all tu graduates!
Below you’ll find information about commencement as it becomes available.
Graduation Day Description
Students, family and friends should arrive to campus with enough time to find parking. While students are checking in and preparing for their special moment, family and friends can settle into their seats at the Heminger Center.
Before the undergraduate ceremony, students will process down Miami Street. Students will enter the Heminger Center, surrounded by faculty and staff who have supported them throughout their time at TU. Students will take their seats and remain seated throughout the ceremony. They will walk across the stage when their name is announced, then they will return to their seats for the remainder of the event. After the ceremony concludes, students will join their family and friends to celebrate their achievement.
Parking Information:
Parking will be available in various locations throughout campus and there will be personnel available to direct vehicles to parking lots with open space. There will also be golf carts/shuttles running throughout the day from multiple locations to transport people from one location to another.
Graduation Day Pointers for Family and Friends
First and foremost, please remain throughout the ceremony to honor the graduates and this momentous occasion.
Leaving early can be distracting to both the audience and the graduates. By staying through the entire ceremony, you show respect and honor your student’s dedication and hard work. Remember, the conferral of degrees is a key moment and a significant part of the celebration.
Keep a Respectful Atmosphere
We’re excited to celebrate our graduates and want each name to be heard clearly as it’s announced. To maintain the ceremony’s respectful tone, please avoid loud cheering, air horns or other disruptions. Don’t forget to silence alarms, phones and other devices to ensure the event proceeds smoothly for everyone.
Arrive Early at the Heminger Center
We recommend guests head straight to the Heminger Center, as seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Allow yourself plenty of time to arrive, get settled and secure a seat to fully enjoy the ceremony. Arriving late may disrupt the event or cause you to miss important moments, so please plan accordingly.
Dress and Be Prepared
Graduation day can be busy, so dress appropriately for the weather to stay comfortable while celebrating your student’s achievements. The Heminger Center may get warm, so consider bringing a small, handheld fan to help stay cool throughout the event.
Last-Minute Gifts
Starting at 12:30 p.m., flowers, graduation t-shirts with student names, and teddy bears will be available for purchase inside the Heminger Center. These make perfect last-minute gifts for your graduate.
