Mail Center FAQs

Yes! We are happy to receive your packages before you arrive on campus. Please ship packages as close to Welcome Weekend as possible, as our storage space is limited.

If you have questions, please contact us:

Email: theexchange@tiffin.edu
Phone: (419) 448-3437

No. The Mail Center is closed on weekends and all major University holidays, and deliveries are not accepted during those times.

Follow our social media places for special hours and closures of the Mail & package Center.

When ordering from Amazon or other retailers, we recommend selecting business hours delivery and avoiding weekend deliveries whenever possible.

The Mail Center prefers that grocery and food deliveries from services such as Walmart, DoorDash, Instacart, or similar providers be sent directly to your residence hall or house.

Please arrange to meet the delivery driver upon arrival and use your residence hall or house address whenever possible. Many delivery services, particularly Walmart, provide limited recipient information, which can make it difficult for Mail Center staff to identify the intended recipient and notify you when an order arrives.

If a grocery or food delivery is sent to the Mail Center, we will accept it; however, the Mail Center is not responsible for lost, spoiled, damaged, or undelivered items. Some delivery services may leave orders outside the building without notifying Mail Center staff, and we are unable to monitor or properly store temperature-sensitive items.

To help ensure your order arrives safely and on time, please have food and grocery deliveries sent directly to your residence.

** Walmart and other grocery delivery services allow customers to select delivery windows; however, these are estimated time frames and not guaranteed arrival times. Students should plan to be available to receive their order directly at their residence hall or house.

If you need to update your mailing address, please visit the USPS Address Change website to submit your request.

Students are responsible for updating their address information with USPS, businesses, family members, and any other organizations that send them mail to ensure continued delivery.

If you leave a forwarding address with us, we will forward first class mail for 60 days, giving you time to change your address with the USPS.

USPS Change of Address

Yes! The Mail Center offers domestic USPS and UPS shipping services.

You can:

  • Purchase postage for letters and packages.
  • Ship packages using USPS or UPS.
  • Drop off prepaid, properly labeled UPS or FedEx packages for carrier pickup.

The Tiffin University Mail Center offers domestic USPS and UPS shipping services only.

If you need international shipping or additional USPS services, such as Priority Mail Express or other specialized mailing options, please visit the local United States Post Office:

United States Post Office
175 S. Monroe Street
Tiffin, OH 44883

The Post Office is approximately 1.1 miles from campus and offers a full range of USPS mailing and shipping services.

Shipping costs vary based on several factors, including:

  • Carrier (USPS or UPS)
  • Package weight and dimensions
  • Destination
  • Shipping speed requested

Our staff will gladly provide a shipping quote at the Mail Center before you ship your package.

No. Please bring your package fully packed and ready to ship.

We do offer:

  • Poly mailers
  • Bubble mailers

These may be purchased at the Mail Center if needed.

A USPS tracking status of “Delivered” often means the package has been delivered to the local USPS facility, not directly to the Tiffin University Mail Center.

Most USPS packages arrive at the Mail Center within one business day after the tracking status changes to “Delivered.”

Once your package has been received, processed, and scanned into our system, you will receive an email notification to your Tiffin University email account letting you know it is ready for pickup.

Packages will be held for 30 days after you receive your pickup notification.

Packages not claimed within 30 days may be returned to the sender or discarded.

Packages containing refrigerated or temperature-sensitive items must be picked up the same business day you receive your pickup notification. The University cannot guarantee the quality or condition of perishable items that are not picked up promptly.

Generally, packages must be picked up by the student to whom they are addressed.

Exceptions may be approved on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Mail Center in advance to make arrangements.

Mail may be delayed if:

  • The recipient’s name is incorrect or missing.
  • The TU Box number is missing or incorrect.
  • The address is incomplete.
  • The recipient cannot be identified.

Items that cannot be matched to a student may be returned to the sender.

Mail requiring additional postage will be held at the Mail Center until payment is made. The recipient will be notified through their TU email account.

Mail can occasionally become damaged during transit. If you believe your mail has been intentionally opened or stolen, please report the incident to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service

Every student (undergraduate and graduate) attending Tiffin University who resides on the campus may receive a locking mailbox and key. Students must contact the Mail Center to obtain a mailbox. The student mailboxes are located in the Gillmor Student Center and are accessible 24 hours a day. Mail is distributed to student mailboxes by 12:30 pm Monday through Friday. Each student is assigned one key and a mailbox number that will remain with the student throughout the academic year. Students must return the Mail Box key at the end of the Spring Semester to the Mail Center. All students must stop at the Mail Center (or other designated area) to pick up their key at the beginning of the Fall semester. There is a replacement fee of $25.00 to duplicate lost keys or if the key is not returned prior to the studentโ€™s graduation. The student mailbox is important and used by many offices on campus. Please check it often and clean it out on a regular basis!

Fragile items, perishable items, liquids, perfumes, lithium batteries and hazardous materials.

*We will make every attempt to notify you of your packages that we receive. After 3 attempts and holding the packages for 1 month, we will return to sender.

Tiffin University is not responsible for delayed or lost packages that have not been addressed properly, or have been lost or delayed through the carrier service.*
