Coubertin Challenge

creating the olympic spirit

Developed with Olympians and named after the founder of the Modern Olympic Games, the 2026 Coubertin Challenge offers high schools and colleges around the world a free and fun opportunity to learn about Olympism while building A.I. skills. Participants also have a chance to earn individual awards, including six $1000 scholarships.  Invited schools must register by August 15.

How the program works

The program has two phases. The first phase begins in Fall 2026 with the launch of an online class for the school’s point of contact.

  • Students complete 3 activities outlined in the Moodle online class:
    • View educational videos or attend a speaker on Olympism
    • Complete the Coubertin Values Ocean on SharkSkillz platform
    • Create and share a 30-60 second video with A.I. assistance that celebrates the Olympic Spirit
  • Schools select three videos to submit to the Moodle online class
  • Schools submit the end-of-course verification survey

Phase 2 of the program will begin in 2027. The program will follow the following steps:

  • Videos are reviewed for awards
  • A certificate, valid through the 2028 LA Olympics, is e-mailed to schools
  • Award winners are contacted and recognized with certificates
  • A curated highlight reel featuring many videos is created
  • Highlight reel is shared at events leading to 2028 LA Olympics including sport film festivals

why students should participate

SCHOLARSHIPS!  SIX $1000 SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE!

Students should participate in the Coubertin Challenge to enhance many different skills. Completing the Coubertin Challenge promotes Olympism, a philosophy of life, mixing sport and culture with art and education, with the goal to balance body, will, and mind. the Coubertin Challenge also builds Social Emotional Learning skills.

Students will receive a digital badge by completing the Coubertin Values Ocean, an interactive game-like challenge, on the SharkSkillz platform and earn a digital badge demonstrating competency in Olympism and reinforcing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills.

Additionally, six annual awards will be presented for outstanding videos across two categories. Scholarships are also available for selected winners (conditions apply). Approximately 30–50 videos will be selected for inclusion in a highlight reel showcased at events leading up to the 2028 Summer Olympics. All videos shared on social media using #CoubertinChallenge and #TiffinUniversity will be eligible for the Audience Choice award.

Schools will be recognized for their leadership and contribution to advancing Olympism, with a certificate and acknowledgment across program materials, events, and digital platforms.

The Pierre de Coubertin Family Association and Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs work within the Olympic movement to promote the educational and cultural ideals of Pierre de Coubertin and Olympism.
