As a lifetime Tiffin area resident, upon graduation from Tiffin Columbian, attending Tiffin University was an easy decision. Bob is an alumnus from 1971 with a B.S. in Higher Accounting. He attributes his initial interest in accounting to a wonderful High School teacher.
During his T.U. experience he was employed at a local foundry as the Senior Metallurgical Tech. Bob then began a 31 ½ year career with the Ohio Department of Taxation and retired as Audit Manager of Tax Technical Training. Since retiring, Bob has spent considerable time performing sales tax refund reviews for I.R.S. 501(c) 3 entities (not for profit, charitable organizations) that are exempted by Ohio Revised Code as sales tax exempt). Such reviews are a voluntary effort from Bob, who was assisted for a long time by friend, T.U. alum and taxation retiree, Lonnie Corthell.
Tiffin University has been a major recipient of sales tax refunds generated from the time Bob has spent at the university. He has provided suggestions and guidance to T.U. in maximizing the exemptions.
Bob is active in his church and has held various positions. He is chair of his township Zoning Board of Appeals, a former Boy Scout Scoutmaster, sang in a barbershop chorus for 37 years and enjoys gardening, yard work and T.U. basketball.
Bob and his wife, Carolyn, are proud parents of sons Kyle and Kevin. Daughter-in-law Kelly and granddaughter Kasey complete the family
