Mary Lewis ’86

Alumni Achievement Award

Mary has exemplified dedication to her community by serving on various organization boards and committees, often in leadership positions, for the last 54 years.

Mary retired from the Seneca County Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2005. Mary helped write the ordinance establishing the Tiffin Shade Tree Commission and was board president for several years.  She was one of the founders of Tiffin Historic Trust in 1976 and continues to be an active member of the board.  Mary has been a board member of the Tiffin-Seneca Heritage Festival since 1979.  She helped organize the Tiffin Art Guild in 2006 and volunteers monthly at the Gallery. She is chair of the Museum/Gallery Alliance which has sponsored Art Walks and German & Italian dinners.  Mary is business manager of the Tiffin Washboard Band which plays at county fairs, nursing homes and other events. She is on the Main Street Marketing & Promotion Committee and this year co-chaired the Artist Stroll and chaired the Blooming Artist Strolls in April 2019 and 2022.   Mary chaired the Tiffin Bicentennial Committee which planned events for 2022.

Mary Lewis was born in Lansing, Michigan, and lived in Springfield and Columbus, Ohio, before moving to Tiffin in 1969.  She has a son Donald who lives in Nevada City, California, and a daughter who lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Mary attended Miami University, The Ohio State University and graduated from Tiffin University in 1986.
