Dr. Shannon De Clute earned a bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology from Morningside University and a master’s and Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Akron. She has conducted forensic assessments for private practice, disability testing for social security services, and evaluations for juvenile detention centers.  She has previously worked at Morningside College where she developed integrated majors, served as the internship/externship coordinator, and led travel courses in Belize and England. She teaches a variety of courses ranging from psychology, sociology, writing and career development.
She has completed research with the Iowa Department of Health to survey Iowan psychologists over the Covid-19 pandemic and co-chaired a task force for APA examining graduate student education and training.  Her primary research focuses on teaching pedagogy and mindfulness with college students.  She is a member of the American Psychology Association and the Midwestern Psychological Association.
