Tiffin University has announced the creation of WorkforceReady, a program for individuals looking to advance or change careers and for organizations looking to upskill employees. WorkforceReady features online certificates built to meet industry needs across Ohio that can be completed in just a few months. Fifty-nine certificates are available in areas that range from technology, advanced manufacturing, human resources, healthcare and essential skills. On average, one certificate takes three to six months to complete.

In the State of Ohio, the rapidly evolving labor market presents a clear and urgent need for workforce training, a necessity underscored by the latest labor market reports. The information technology sector in Ohio is on the brink of significant expansion, with an anticipated 6% growth over the next five years, leading to nearly 10,000 new tech jobs.* The high frequency of job postings in this field highlights Ohio’s critical shortage of skilled talent. Tiffin University has the expertise to address this urgent need effectively by enhancing certificates and non-degree credentials.

The healthcare industry in Ohio mirrors this trend, projecting a 5% growth and the creation of 31,000 new jobs in the next five years.* This growth comes when Ohio faces a severe talent supply shortage, compounded by an aging population and a heightened demand for specialized care. The industry’s struggle with one of the longest times-to-hire, at a median of 28 days, underscores the urgent need for trained healthcare professionals within the state.*

Furthermore, Ohio’s manufacturing sector is witnessing a significant influx of job opportunities coupled with an aging workforce. The industry has the longest time-to-hire at 29 days and faces a massive demand to replace over 30,000 retiring workers.* This scenario presents a substantial opportunity for job seekers in Ohio, provided there is a concerted effort to equip them with the necessary skills.

These sector-specific insights from Ohio’s labor market reports highlight the imperative for targeted workforce training programs. Such initiatives are essential for meeting the current demand in Ohio and ensuring that the state’s workforce is future-ready, capable of sustaining and driving growth in these vital sectors.

“With qualifications matching the current hiring needs, we empower people to thrive in high-value roles. Simultaneously, a steady stream of qualified talent allows companies to expand and invest in our Ohio communities,” said Provost and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Peter J. Holbrook. “We are committed to providing vital training to help everyone succeed in tomorrow’s careers and to position our communities for prosperity through investment.”
