Tiffin University Celebrates 30 Years of Music Excellence with Commemorative EP Release

EP Album Cover

Tiffin University proudly marks the 30th anniversary of its Music Department with the release of a special six-song EP. The TiffinMusic 30th Anniversary EP features current students performing songs that blend nostalgia with fresh interpretations, with each track paying tribute to a distinct five-year period of TiffinMusic history.

Tracks include:

1995–1999: “Lovefool” featuring Up in the Air – A faithful recreation of The Cardigans’ hit, echoing the original performance by Up in the Air over 25 years ago. Today’s version adds a modern twist, with each member playing rhythm section instruments alongside their vocals. Music department founder Brad Rees served as producer for this track.

2000–2004: “Hey Ya” featuring TMS Allstars – This energetic cover of Outkast’s classic is performed by commercial music majors from TiffinMusic Studios, TU’s student-led record label and production house. The song has been a staple across TU ensembles, including the Marching Band. Commercial music professor Dan Myers produced this track.

2005–2009: “White Winter Hymnal” featuring Smoke Signals – This fresh acoustic take on Fleet Foxes’ 2008 hit, performed by one of TU’s standout indie songwriting ensembles. Dan Myers produced this track.

2010–2014: “On My Mind” featuring Word on the Street – A soulful, horn-driven rendition of Ellie Goulding’s track, continuing the legacy of TU funk bands like Front Street, The InBetween, and DMX. The track was produced by Carter Bennett and Dan Myers.

2015–2019: “Sunday Candy” featuring inDifferent Places – TU’s hip hop and R&B group reimagines the influential song by Nico Segal and The Social Experiment, bringing a vibrant new flavor to the track. This track was produced by the group’s director Malik Mallard.

2020–2025: “Please, Please, Please” featuring Higher Ground – Closing the EP with high-energy a cappella, Higher Ground delivers a dynamic arrangement of Sabrina Carpenter’s 2024 pop hit, complete with beatboxing and vocal bass. The song was arranged and produced by BK Riha.
