Tiffin University’s President Dr. Lillian Schumacher and Vice President for Strategic Innovation Ron Lonzo recently presented at the 2023 Arizona State University Global Silicon Valley Summit. Both Schumacher’s and Lonzo’s contributions occurred during a panel discussion on the value of small colleges as innovation testing sites.
During the panel, Schumacher and Lonzo acted as representatives for the private, independent sectors of colleges and universities, as well as the Council of Independent Colleges. Their presentations were entitled, “Innovating Small: A Different Model of Scalability” and “David V. Goliath,” respectively.
“It was a privilege to contribute to this necessary discussion,” said Schumacher. “We are a proactive example of what strategic partnerships can look like for colleges and universities, and will continue to be in this space. Further, as generative artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality become more commonplace practices both in and out of higher education spheres, it is advantageous for institutions such as Tiffin University to determine how these apply within our context accordingly. My sincere thanks is extended to the other Summit attendees and administrators for allowing Mr. Lonzo and me to share our insights, as well as for offering their own.”
