TIFFIN UNIVERSITY, Tiffin, OH— The Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO) invited independent college mascots from around the state to the Ohio Statehouse on Oct. 23 for Mascot Day. Tiffin University’s mascot, Blaze, along with 20 other college mascots and cheer teams attended.

The event, which occurs every other year, highlights school spirit, pride, and diversity of the not-for-profit college community across Ohio. Schools show off their unique mascots through performances and photo opportunities. The Ohio Speaker of the House Larry Householder, Chancellor Randy Gardner, and many other legislators stopped by for pictures with mascots.

About AICUO

The Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio was organized in 1969 to represent the interests of its 51 members to Ohio’s lawmakers, regulators and citizens. AICUO seeks to strengthen student financial aid programs and bring about a greater understanding of the benefits and contributions of Ohio independent colleges and universities. At the same time, the association works to promote the well-being of Ohio higher education as a whole, with special regard for the dual private/public nature of the responsibility to serve the educational, social, and cultural needs of the state and the nation.
