Tiffin University and Terra State Community College to Host Signing Ceremony for Dual Degree Nursing Partnership

Tiffin University (TU) and Terra State Community College (TSCC) have recently come together for a partnership that will provide students with a pathway to earn both a Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science from TU and an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from TSCC.

A formal signing ceremony will take place Friday, March 14, at 1:30 p.m. in The Diane Kidd Gallery, located in the Hayes Center for the Arts on Tiffin University’s campus.

This Dual Degree Nursing Program is designed for students’ convenience, as the two institutions are only 17 miles apart. Students in this program will complete their first two years of coursework at Tiffin University before transitioning to a combination of classes at both institutions. Hands-on learning will occur in Terra’s state of the art simulation center and skills lab and clinical experiences will take place at several locations throughout northwest and north central Ohio. Students will have an advisor at both TU and TSCC to facilitate course selection and career exploration.

“We are extremely excited about this partnership opportunity,” said Tiffin University President, Dr. Lillian Schumacher. “We have been working diligently to find a partner that best serves and supports our students’ interest in health care while still being able to maintain their campus collegiate life. We believe we have found the perfect balance through this partnership and look forward to our collaboration with Terra State Community College.”

“We are ecstatic to partner with Terra State Community College to offer this unique program,” said Dr. Peter Holbrook, Provost and Chief Operating Officer at Tiffin University. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to developing innovative educational opportunities that meet workforce demands. By combining Tiffin University’s applied health science curriculum with Terra State’s hands-on nursing training, students will graduate equipped with the knowledge, skills and experience needed to thrive in their field.”

“Nursing is a high demand profession, and this dual degree program offers both the associate degree in nursing and the baccalaureate degree in applied health science with a minor in management,” said Susan Wajert, Chief Nursing Administrator at Tiffin University. “This seamless pathway provides students with the knowledge and skills to enter the nursing profession with a greater capacity for understanding the dynamic health care system.”
