Conservation through a Lens by Justin Grubb & Alex Goetz

Conservation through a Lens Opens at The Diane Kidd Gallery at Tiffin University

The Diane Kidd Gallery at Tiffin University will host Conservation through a Lens, a powerful wildlife photography exhibition featuring the work of photographers Justin Grubb and Alex Goetz of Running Wild Media. The exhibition will be on display from February 23 through May 4, 2026, with an opening reception scheduled for March 20, 2026. The reception is open to the public.

Conservation through a Lens highlights extraordinary wildlife from around the world and the compelling conservation stories behind them. Through captivating large-format photography, video integration, and interpretive storytelling, Running Wild Media combines science and art to educate and inspire action. The exhibition takes a multidisciplinary approach designed to connect global conservation challenges with local community engagement and solutions.

The gallery features 37 striking large-format metal prints, with primary pieces measuring 48″ x 36″ in a matte finish, paired with complementary 24″ x 12″ metal prints that provide additional perspective and depth. Each photograph captures wildlife in its natural habitat, or the biologists and caretakers dedicated to protecting these species. Accompanying each piece is a thoughtfully designed interpretive panel detailing the conservation organization involved, the species’ historic and current range, threats to survival, IUCN status, and tangible actions being taken to protect it. Visitors will also find practical ways to support conservation efforts.

To deepen engagement, QR codes throughout the exhibition connect guests to related films, audio stories, and articles produced by Running Wild Media, allowing audiences to explore each species’ world beyond the frame.

The “Conservation Through a Lens” exhibition and lecture series is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.

Alex Goetz is a wildlife filmmaker and photographer, and co-founder of Running Wild Media. He has contributed to outlets such as National Geographic, BBC, PBS, CNN, CBS and was a winner of the National Geographic WILD “Wild to Inspire” film competition.

An Ohio native, some of his extensive travels have taken him from the countryside of Tasmania filming Tasmanian devils, to boating throughout the vibrant Marshall Islands, and road-tripping around four amazing African countries filming wildlife and conservation efforts.

Alex is a 2019 Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leader, 2019 NAAEE 30 under 30, TEDxToledo 2017 speaker, and a 2013 graduate from Bowling Green State University, with a degree in Film Production and Environmental Science.

Justin Grubb is an award-winning filmmaker, photographer, published writer, naturalist, and co-founder of Running Wild Media. Justin earned his B.Sc. in Biology at Bowling Green State University and his Master of Biology at Miami University. With years of international wildlife field research and formal/informal teaching experience, Justin combines these two fields with media to enhance science communication. Justin’s love for nature and passion for the outdoors has brought him to some of the most extreme habitats on earth to study and film critically endangered wildlife.

He is a 2017 Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leader, a Nat Geo Wild “Wild to Inspire” award-winning filmmaker, a member of the Explorers Club, and an Emerging League member of the International League of Conservation Photographers.

We inspire conservation through visual storytelling. Running Wild Media is a multiaward-winning production company focused on wildlife, conservation, science, and community storytelling.

We’ve plunged into remote coral reefs to capture newly unearthed species. We’ve bivouacked in the bayou to unveil the world’s rarest wolves, climbed great heights to document hornbills in dense jungle canopies, and journeyed across the savannah to film Africa’s greatest predators. Our mission? To share incredible tales of conservation worldwide through broadcast, digital platforms, exhibits, classrooms, libraries, and impactful social campaigns to inspire environmental stewardship and empower community conservation.

We have been fortunate to work with some great media clients including; National Geographic, BBC, PBS, CNN, as well as some incredible conservation partners, such as Defenders of Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy, the National Wildlife Federation, and more.

Collectively, our professional affiliations include the National Geographic Society, the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP), The Explorers Club, North American Association of Environmental Educators, Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders, TEDx, and more.
