The Tiffin University Drone Academy will sponsor a Drone Community Fly Day on Saturday, June 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hedges-Boyer Park near the American Legion Shelter House. The event aims to educate participants on how to operate Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) technology safely for recreational use and is free and open to the public. Attendees may bring their own drone or choose to fly one provided for them. No prior experience is necessary.

Fly-demonstrations from several local organizations will also take place, such as the Tiffin University Drone Academy and the Seneca County Drone Team, a collaboration between the Tiffin and Fostoria Police Departments and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office. Agricultural drone demonstrations made by Avon UAS and Nineteenth UAS Precision will also be featured.
“We are excited to invite you to our thrilling Community Fly Day,” said Owen Fritz, Drone Academy Director and Assistant Professor of Computer Science. “Discover the wonders of agriculture drone demos and relish the chance to fly regular drones. We’re thrilled to share the captivating world of drones with our enthusiastic community.”
Snacks and refreshments will be provided for all attendees. Registration is encouraged but not required. To register, email DroneAcademy@tiffin.edu.
