If Law and Order, CSI and NCIS are on regular rotation and science has become a guilty pleasure, it is time to take it to the next level with Tiffin University Cold Case Camp.
TU’s Cold Case Camp is an immersive camp that will acquaint high school students with cold case work and introduce them to the many concepts involved in the solving of cold cases. Students will be exposed to both mock and real cold cases in a hands-on capacity. The camp will be led by TU School of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences faculty and professionals experienced in conducting criminal investigations at all levels.
When: July 20 – July 23, 2026
Price: $800 per camper
Residence Hall: Clay Hall
Camp Capacity: 30 campers

Important Information
Refund policy
Campers will receive a full refund if there is a cancelation two weeks (fourteen days) before the camp’s start date. If there is a cancelation after this time, no refund will be given.

Campers will also take part in activities like:
- Participation in mock and real cold case work
- Organization of cold case files
- Overview of evidence evaluation in criminal cases
- Examining materials such as:
- Crime scene photos
- Witness statements
- Crime scene reports
- Coroners’ reports
- Overview of how cold cases develop and are solved including the approaches used by professionals in the field
- Access to TU’s state-of-the-art anatomage table (digital autopsy)
- Lessons in victimology and suspectology in the solving of cold cases
- Basic investigation and data analysis techniques
- Access to TU’s School of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences Experiential Learning Center
- Preparation of summary reports
Amenities
Students will be staying in a single room. Paper towels and toilet paper will be provided. Meals will be provided to the students in the Cole Dining Hall.
What to Bring
Students will need to bring all personal hygiene items, towels, pillow and bedding for an XL twin bed.

Associate Professor Michael T. Curtis teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in criminal law, criminal procedure, trial preparation, and ethics. Mr. Curtis earned his B.A in Criminal Justice from West Liberty University and his Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Associate Professor Curtis is a former police officer for the city of Weirton, West Virginia, where he was employed in many capacities from patrol to investigations. During this time, he was a head wrestling coach at Steubenville Catholic Central High School, in Steubenville, Ohio. Mr. Curtis is a graduate of the West Virginia State Police Academy, where he received the honor of being selected as the “Most Outstanding Officer” of his class. Professor Curtis is a licensed attorney and has practiced law since 2006. He is a former founding partner of the law firm of Grishkevich and Curtis, P.L.L.C., specializing in general practice, bankruptcy law, criminal defense, personal injury, medical malpractice, and family law. Mr. Curtis is a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served in the Persian Gulf and was awarded the Southwest Asia Service Medal.
