Mike McKay serves as Director of Learning Design in the Center for Online Learning at Tiffin University. He brings more than 30 years of experience in education, training, instructional design, educational technology, web development, and online learning.
His career includes 12 years as an adjunct instructor in Japan, more than a decade in adult and secondary education, and prior leadership experience as National Training Director for a major auditing firm. His background in educational technology began with web development in the 1990s and later expanded into virtual worlds, online communities, and immersive learning environments.
Mike holds a Master of Education and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in E-Business. His scholarly and professional interests include virtual world language learning, generative AI, online course design, faculty development, and the use of emerging technologies to improve teaching and learning.
At Tiffin University, Mike leads the design, development, and continuous improvement of online courses. He is especially interested in how generative AI can support curriculum design, faculty workflows, student learning, and the future of higher education.
