On December 21 of 2021, Bridget Boyle stepped over the shattered pieces of the Seneca County Justice Center’s glass ceiling to take her oath as the first female Tiffin City Council President in our town’s history. Tiffin City Law Director, Brent Howard, swore her in on the chilly afternoon, on the grounds of the Justice Center, and Bridget’s friends, family and colleagues, as well as several members of the community were in attendance. While the official proceedings were kept brief due to the weather, Bridget happily shook hands and chatted with members of the public after the ceremony’s conclusion, citing how happy she was to fill this role. Based on the size of her smile during the entirety of the event, this statement checks out.
“I still can’t believe this is really happening. I am honored and humbled to start, and promise to serve the members of the community to the best of my ability,” said Bridget.
Bridget’s Dragon Family could not be more proud of her in light of this significant accomplishment. She graduated from Tiffin University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Managerial Studies. She was first given a member’s seat on the council in 2019, later throwing her proverbial hat in the ring for the title of President in the 2021 general election after Rich Focht opted out of running for reelection. She officially took office as of January 1, 2022.
When asked about how TU’s program(s) helped prepare her for this line of work, President Boyle said “Tiffin University is one of the main reasons I am in this position today. When I first visited the campus, I instantly fell in love with the University and the charm of the community. I built many strong relationships with my professors and received meaningful mentoring that helped build my skill set I practice in my career today. My choice to stay in Tiffin after graduation was immensely impacted by my experience as a TU student. I am so grateful for those four years and I will continue to support our Dragons as a proud alum!”
