Tiffin University’s Dr. Bonnie Tiell Receives 2024 Outstanding Educator Award

The Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce gathered with more than 215 guests at Tiffin University’s Marion Center August 8, 2024, to celebrate and recognize educators in Seneca County as they prepare to begin the 2024-2025 school year. During the Educators Appreciation Breakfast, the Chamber recognized Tiffin University Professor of Management, Dr. Bonnie Tiell, with the 2024 Outstanding Educator Award.

The Outstanding Educator Award is presented to an educator who has exemplified vision, leadership qualities and commitment to the improvement of education. The award serves to recognize and honor outstanding achievement in the field of education, inspire the recipients to embrace the qualities and characteristics required to advance the education profession and encourage other educators to aspire to make a difference in the education of youth to shape a better future.

Dr. Tiell has significantly impacted her students and the Seneca County community since joining the university in 1988. Her visionary leadership and commitment to education, particularly through the Academic Experience with Olympians and humanitarian efforts in Olympic host cities, have significantly impacted students and the community. By providing her students with real-life experiences in the sports management industry, Dr. Tiell has equipped them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their careers. Her extensive contributions to the field of sports management and education truly make her a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.

“I would like to join Seneca County in congratulating Dr. Bonnie Tiell on being recognized as the 2024 Outstanding Educator,” said Dr. Thomas Marben, Dean of the School of Business at Tiffin University. “In her thirty plus years at TU, Dr. Tiell has transformed the lives of so many students from the hands-on application of concepts in the classroom to real-world experiences outside of the classroom. The sports management program has become a flagship program for Tiffin University for many reasons, but most notably because of the work of Dr. Tiell. Her passion for students and learning is contagious and inspiring.”
