George Dupey – You will be missed!

With deep sadness, Tiffin University shares that George Dupey passed away on December 12, 2020. Dupey was a TU graduate of 1957 and one of TU’s longest-serving employees. Serving the University for 39 years, he held various positions including Registrar, Acting Dean, Senior Lecturer in Accounting, Vice President for Administration and upon retiring was the Director of Career Services.

Dupey was actively involved in the Tiffin community, as well as on Tiffin University’s campus. He was a life member of Phi Theta Pi International Business Fraternity, where he served as an advisor for TU’s local chapter for 24 years. Additionally, he was past president and grand chairman of TU’s Alumni Association Board.

A fond friend of Dupey’s, Tony Serluco, Class of 1974, will remember his jokes, charisma and words of wisdom. He was a student in Dupey’s class in the early 1970s and a member of Phi Theta Pi fraternity when Dupey was the advisor.

“He was a true gentleman in everything,” said Serluco. “He would never take credit for anyone’s success, although many former students would agree that Professor George made a difference in their career. He impacted many TU graduates, even long after graduation.”

Their friendship continued past Serluco’s graduation. They attended national conventions and training sessions for the fraternity, spoke on the phone frequently and visited one another when Serluco was in Tiffin.

“George meant so much to Phi Theta Pi, Tiffin University and its students,” said Sean Szpak, Class of 2012 and a member of Phi Theta Pi. “He will be deeply missed.”
