Tiffin University’s recording label, TiffinMusic Studios, will release a new album at 12 a.m. on Friday, March 15. The album, “MT Mixtape,” is a compilation piece, featuring ten songs from the past five TiffinArts musicals.
TiffinMusic Studios invites the public to a release party on Thursday, March 14 at 5 p.m. in the band room at the Performing Arts Lab Building. The event is free and no reservations are needed.
The project serves as a time capsule, featuring many past and current TU students, faculty and staff members representing the shows “Heathers,” “Spring Awakening,” “Dogfight,” “RENT” and “Next to Normal.”
“This album is unique in that it not only presents songs representing the cutting-edge musicals Tiffin University has presented in the last few years, but also in how it draws together our productions and the advanced studio performance and production work of our commercial music majors,” said Brad Rees, Dean of the School of Creative and Media Arts.
“As the newest member of our creative staff, Carter Bennett has done such an amazing job not just taking the lead organizing sessions, recording and mixing, but also coming up with creative interpretations of these beloved songs from contemporary musical theater,” Rees added. “Carter has created really fresh arrangements and adaptations while still preserving the songs’ original spirit.”
