Spread the Word to End the Word
Tiffin University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has joined the “Spread the Word to End the Word” www.r-word.org national movement.
TU student-athlete representatives (approximately 100) will visit the homerooms of Tiffin Columbian High School on Wednesday, March 20 to share a video and presentation and encourage each student to take the pledge to end the “R” word which stands for “retard” – a word individuals use in everyday speech which is hurtful and dehumanizing to individuals with special needs.
The student-athletes will then gather on TU’s campus in the Gillmor Student Center from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. to encourage TU students to also take the pledge.
A small presentation will end the day at TU’s Annual Women’s Leaders Symposium Wednesday evening.
