The Ohio Diversity Council (OHDC) recently appointed Tiffin University’s President, Dr. Lillian Schumacher to serve as a member of their Board of Directors, responsible for the execution of the organization’s overall mission and oversight of their five regional advisory boards.
The OHDC is the state’s premier resource for diversity and inclusion education and implementation, and is committed to, “fostering a learning environment for organizations to grow and leverage their knowledge of diversity.” This is done by facilitating a variety of informative events, classes and workshops for those seeking to make such changes within professional circles. It is currently comprised of five regional advisory boards – Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo.
“This is a momentous occasion both for me personally and our University,” said President Schumacher. “Since the instatement of our Celebrating CulTUral Uniqueness (CCU) commitment in 2016 and the recent opening of the Center for InterculTUral Excellence, we have made great strides toward not only making our campus a more equitable and opportunistic place for all students and employees, but have done the same for many third-party organizations. Both CCU@TU and the Center are projects near and dear to me, and it is my honor to continue this work on a broader scale with the exceptional leaders of the OHDC.”
Additionally, Tiffin University’s Nadia Lewis was recently appointed to serve on the OHDC’s Toledo Advisory Board. In January of this year, Lewis was promoted to become both the Vice President for Human Resources, as well as the first Vice President for TU’s Center for InterculTUral Excellence. As the Center is the new home for Tiffin’s Office of Equity Access and Opportunity, Office of Human Resources as well as several associated departments, the primary function of her hybrid position is the strategic oversight of the Human Resources team, and the development and successful execution of the Center.
