Tiffin University’s recording label, Tiffin Music Studios, housed within the School of Creative and Media Arts, has released its first album entitled “TiffinKidz Volume I.” The album features eight songs, performed by local children and teens in the TiffinKidz after-school vocal music program. There will be a release party on Friday, November 17 at 5 p.m. in the Performing Arts Lab’s choir room, which is free and open to the public.
Carter Bennett (`23) has spearheaded the project since 2021. Bennett is the album’s producer and sound engineer, while TU senior and education major, Jessica Briney, is the participants’ primary vocal coach. The pair works under the guidance of Aly Horn, Assistant Dean for Program Development in the School of Creative and Media Arts.
“I’m just so proud of these kids,” said Bennett. “Their vocal skill rivals that of students much older than they are, and it’s been a joy to work with them on this passion project and introduce them to the University community. I’m excited for the public to finally hear what we’ve spent the last three years working on.”
TiffinKidz Volume I is the first in a series of five albums to be released through Tiffin Music Studios, and is available to stream on all major music sharing platforms.
“We are so proud of Carter, Jess and the kids for their work on this project,” said Aly Horn. “TiffinKidz embodies the goals and mission of our TiffinMusic programs by prioritizing popular and commercial music styles as integral to young singers’ music education experiences. It’s been outstanding to see the groups’ progress and their dedication to artistry. You won’t believe it when you hear how great they sound!”
About the Program
TiffinKidz (formerly the TU Kids Choir) allows area youth to perform popular music and participate in recording projects at TU’s professional recording studio. The program has a successful 12-year history of serving community youth, beginning in 2009 as an afterschool program at Krout Elementary School. Later moving to the TU campus, it has hosted hundreds of kids from more than ten schools since its founding. TiffinKidz is made possible by the generosity of Diana Kirk.
