Internationally acclaimed instrumental band Huntertones will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 8 in the Tiffin University Marion Center located at 188 Wall St., Tiffin. Huntertones brings its signature blend of jazz, funk, soul, rock, hip-hop and world music influences to Northwest Ohio audiences.
Known for high-energy performances and exceptional musicianship, Huntertones has built a devoted following by redefining what an instrumental band can be. Their concerts move seamlessly from infectious funk grooves and New Orleans-inspired brass band sounds to jazz improvisation, soulful melodies and global rhythms gathered during tours across Europe, Africa and South America.
The group was founded by Ohio natives Jon Lampley, Dan White and Chris Ott, who met while studying at The Ohio State University before launching the band in Columbus. Since then, Huntertones has toured internationally and earned recognition for a sound that draws from a remarkably wide range of influences, creating music that is both musically sophisticated and immediately accessible.
Lampley, a trumpeter, vocalist and sousaphonist, was a member of the Late Show band with Jon Batiste and has become known for his dynamic stage presence and genre-crossing versatility. White’s compositions help shape the band’s adventurous musical direction, while Ott’s unique combination of trombone and beatboxing has become one of the group’s most popular live features.
Rather than focusing on a single style, Huntertones blends elements of modern jazz, gospel, brass band traditions, rock and funk into performances that emphasize energy, creativity and audience connection. The result is a concert experience that appeals equally to jazz fans, contemporary music listeners and those simply looking for a great night of live entertainment.
“We’ve been working to get this amazing band to Tiffin for several years,” said Brad Rees, Tiffin University’s Executive Director of Creative and Media Arts.
“This band is truly one of the most outstanding role model groups for our commercial music students, and at the same time one of the most entertaining bands you’ll ever hear. We’re especially proud to bring them to Tiffin audiences for half the ticket price they get in Columbus, and free for TU students, faculty and staff.”
Huntertones is currently touring in support of its newest album, continuing a career that has taken the band from Columbus classrooms to concert halls, festivals and cultural exchange programs around the world. Their Tiffin appearance offers audiences a chance to experience one of the Midwest’s most innovative live bands in an intimate performance setting.
General admission is $15, and Tiffin University students, faculty and staff receive free admission. Tickets are available at tiffin.edu/arts/tickets.
