Professor Marben joined the Tiffin University School of Business in the fall of 2017. Professor Marben has spent a number of years working in both public and private accounting. During his time in public accounting he worked at Plante Moran, as well as smaller firms totaling 7 years of experience. During his public accounting practice he worked with clients in various industries including: hospitals, schools, foundations, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, energy and various other small businesses. While working with these clients Professor Marben provided audit, tax, retirement plan audit, and general business consulting services. During his 10 years in private accounting Professor Marben focused mostly on the oil and gas industry where he was the controller for an independent exploration and production company in Northern Michigan. He also taught Accounting and Finance courses for Davenport University and North Central Michigan College.

Professor Marben received his undergraduate degree from Davenport University in 2003 and his MBA from Central Michigan University in 2005. He earned his PhD in Business Management with an accounting concentration with Capella University. He earned his Certified Public Accounting license from the State of Michigan in 2005, and is currently licensed by the State of Ohio.

Professor Marben serves on the Calvert Catholic School Board.  He is also active in the Tiffin community with the Sharing Kitchen, and FISH food distribution.  He formerly served the Council of Petroleum Accountants Society (COPAS) of Michigan as President, as well as the Finance Council of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish spending 3 years as the Chairman.

Professor Marben enjoys running, he has completed 12 marathons including the virtual Boston Marathon in 2020 and the Boston Marathon in 2016. He also enjoys triathlons, the longest distance he has completed is the half-ironman distance. He also enjoys hunting and camping with his family.  He resides in Tiffin with his wife Beth and two children Emma and Jacob.
