What class year and degree earned at Tiffin University?

Class of 2007,  Bachelor of Business of Administration – Management of Information Systems

Why did you choose Tiffin University?

I was attracted to Tiffin University because of its smaller size and intimate campus. It felt like home when I visited for the first time. All the people I met were friendly and welcoming. It was a place where I could see myself playing competitive volleyball and making an impact on the existing team. Tiffin was also a drivable distance from my home in Cincinnati, yet far enough away where I could enjoy my college experience.

What activities were you involved in while attending TU?

Playing volleyball took up most of my time while at TU – I loved every minute of it!  While I wasn’t playing ball, I loved attending the other team’s games (soccer, football, baseball, basketball) to show my support.

Do you have a favorite campus memory or person?

One of my favorite times of the year on campus was the fall. There was always a buzz with student athletes coming back from the summer and starting fresh. The trees around campus were beautiful during that time. Our freshman year we got to fly out to Colorado for a pre-season tournament. It was a great bonding experience & the best way to kick of my volleyball career at Tiffin.

What does being a Tiffin University graduate mean to you?

I have a sense of pride when I talk about being an alumni from Tiffin. I had the pleasure of being at the HOF last year to support my fellow teammate Jessica Schult Phillips be inducted. I had not been on campus in about 10 years. I loved seeing the improvements on campus, the new facilities, and catching up with my old friends & teammates. It’s really like being part of a family when you’re an alumni of TU!

Where are you employed and what is your job title and responsibilities?

After 7 years at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as an HRIS Consultant I recently changed jobs this summer. I now work for Catholic Health Initiatives, the 3rd largest nonprofit health system in the nation. In my role as a Senior Analyst on the HR Technology Services team I help support the Health & Welfare area of the company. My responsibilities include supporting our integration files to our medical, dental, vision, & supplemental benefit carriers. Our team leads the Annual Enrollment effort for about $80,000 employees and various acquisition/divesture activity that happens throughout the year.

What do you like most about your job/career?

I have chosen a career that combines my experience & education of technology, human resources, and health care. My like that my role is challenging but I can make a positive impact every day. I really enjoy using my technology background in the ever-changing world of health care.

What advice would you give a student looking into your career?

One thing that was really helpful was the internships I did while at TU. They were instrumental in guiding me into my IT and Healthcare career. My advice would be to find the best real-world experience or internship (even unpaid) so that you understand what the roles are like. This will help shape what you are really looking for when you graduate.

Are you involved in any community/volunteer clubs?

What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment/what are you most proud of? I am really proud to be a Tiffin Dragon alumni. I was proud to bring my skills to TU and really build the volleyball program back in 2003. My biggest personal accomplishment is finding my husband & starting our family. I love watching Evie & Calvin grow each day. It’s an amazing thing!
