Event date: April 11, 2019

George Kidd, Jr. to present Making Friends: 38 Years of TU’s Good Morning World

TIFFIN UNIVERSITY, Tiffin, OH— On April 11, Tiffin University will conclude 38 years of its Good Morning World Breakfast Lecture Series with its creator, Dr. George Kidd, Jr., Tiffin University’s 3rd President. Sponsored by The Old Fort Banking Co., the breakfast will take place in the Osceola Theatre located inside of the Gillmor Student Center on campus in Tiffin.

Kidd will discuss the history of Good Morning World, why it began, and the impact it has had on the University.

“We are quite honored to have Dr. George Kidd, Jr. on campus for our last Good Morning World breakfast,” says TU President Dr. Lillian Schumacher. “It was under his leadership this breakfast lecture series began and it has had an amazing run, a positive impact on our students, employees and the local Tiffin community. We are all very grateful.”

About George Kidd, Jr.

James Fisher, a national authority on college and university presidents has said, “George Kidd was one of the most outstanding college presidents in the nation.”  Fisher featured Kidd in his book on leadership, “Presidential Leadership—Making a Difference.”

When George Kidd arrived at Tiffin University in 1981, the institution was experiencing problems similar to those of many small, private colleges across the country. Those include falling enrollment, and, for TU, an identity crisis of whether or not the college should be known as one of the nation’s first-tier colleges schools.

During the 1980s and 1990s, when most business schools were experiencing tougher days, Tiffin University consistently experienced growth and development.  When TU set strategic plans, there were always tough objectives and the college met its objective each and every time.

Since 1981, enrollment of Tiffin University has increased dramatically and the campus has taken dramatic form. TU has received national recognition for the quality of its academic programs and added graduate-level study.

Prior to joining Tiffin University, Kidd served as Vice President for Business Services at Mercyhurst Collge, Erie Pennsylvania; and served a series of five administrative positions at The University of Pennsylvania involving department and multi-department turnarounds and growth situations.

Kidd earned a BS in Finance and an MBA from Drexel University; an MA in Economic History from the University of Pennsylvania; a Certificate-Institute for Educational Management from Harvard University; an L.L.D. from Baker College; a D.H.L. from the Indiana Institute of Technology and an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Bucharest, Romania; and an honorary doctorate from Tiffin University.

Please join us as we welcome George Kidd, Jr. back to Tiffin University.
