The Tiffin University Creative Arts Institute will host the 23rd Songwriting and Music Production Summer Camp from Sunday, July 17 through Thursday, July 21, 2022. The program is a total creative experience, offering coursework in music writing, performing and recording pop, jazz, r&b, a cappella, hip-hop and other commercial styles. The camp features individualized programs for high school and college students, as well as amateur and professional musicians and educators.
All attendees will collaborate with and receive personalized instruction from professional artists-in-residence. Together, they will write and record original music in a studio setting. These efforts will culminate on the evening of July 21 in the form of a performance that is free and open to the public.
Campers will also perform in rock, pop, hip-hop, indie and vocal-oriented groups. Each participant will receive solo coaching sessions and participate in workshops on songwriting, beatboxing, live looping, studio production and other topics.
“This is – as it has been many times before – going to be a wonderful and deeply enriching educational endeavor for all involved,” says Dr. Peter J. Holbrook, Provost and Chief Academic Officer. “Campers will be afforded the opportunity to benefit from the long and rich history TiffinMusic has cultivated over the last quarter-century, and we are excited to see what they will produce under the guidance of the experienced instructors responsible for the program’s longevity.”
Because the camp runs all day and late into the evening, on-campus housing and meals are provided for an all-inclusive fee of $550. Campers who live locally may instead choose a tuition-only option of $350 for the week.
Campers will stay in Clay Residence Hall, which is air-conditioned, with each camper in a single room. Meals will be served in the Cole Dining Hall.
Campers are also encouraged to bring any musical instruments they would like to use in their songwriting and production activities.
