Tiffin University’s Tiffin Innovation Program to Host “Demo Day”

On Wednesday, April 27 at 4 p.m. in the Chisholm Auditorium, Tiffin University’s new initiative, the Tiffin Innovation Program (TIP) will host its first Demo Day event, where student-led entrepreneurial startups will present their business models to groups of potential investors in the hopes of securing the funding needed to launch their ideas. Demo Day is free and open to the public and will be followed by a networking mixer with all student groups available to answer questions from 6:45 – 7:30 p.m.

This event will be the culmination of a semester-long series of weekly training seminars where participating student groups developed and honed their ideas under the guidance of numerous industry-leading corporate executives. All admitted student groups were required to undergo a rigorous vetting process at the beginning of the semester and have had to meet several criteria since in order to participate in Demo Day. The winning team will receive the startup funds for their idea and will be paired with an industry leader for continued mentoring. Attending potential investors will also be allowed to make offers to other groups.

“It has been a joy to watch and guide our students as they refine ideas and come up with concrete plans for their business execution,” said Tiffin University President, Dr. Lillian Schumacher. “I attended several of the weekly TIP sessions since they began on January 26and witnessed amazing transformation from, in many cases, ideation, to now, a feasible business plan. I would also like to extend my sincerest thanks to Board of Trustee member Mr. Danial Jameel, the distinguished team of business advisors and to Ron Lonzo, the Program Facilitator. It is because of their continued effort and strict dedication that these startups are so well-prepared for their upcoming pitches.”

The names of the student-run business startups are “Zeit Tech,” “Connected by Ink,” “DragonMart,” “CryptoInvest,” “Nomanclature” and “iPromei.”
